the ar-15 (m-16) was developed by eugene stoner in the early 60's and adopted by the us military as the standard issue rifle in or around 1965. its a .223 caliper, light weight carbine capable of 600 rounds a minute. it uses primarily 20 and 30 round magizines.

civilian versions are semi- automatic and are basically the same as the military versions. they are decent firearms and provide good accuracy.

there are many people that manufacture the AR-15 rifle.

personally, i own a pre-ban Colt Arms AR-15.

i also like the Armalite AR-15. i definely trust these 2 manufacturers with this rifle.

you can also find the AR-15 chambered for .308, usually called the AR-10.

ahhh found the pic of my guns :)

there is only one state that a regular citizen can legally own a "machine gun".

everything else is semi-auto.

i hink an ar-15 is the civilian version of an m-16. m-16 are fully auto and the civilian ar-15 is a semi auto. other than that, there are no differences.

military version ar-15's i believe are single shot, 3rd burst, and full auto the ar-15 was and is military they dont make a m-16 for civilians....its if you can get your hands on it....and if its pre ban then you can have it legally

They're great fun, but expensive to shoot, I only shoot my M4gery (DPMS pinned carbine lower, Bushmaster M4AK upper with detachable handle sight) about once a year now. I really have more fun with my 10/22T and Sig P225.

Can you just go buy a new AR in Kalifornia now? I thought the rules changed two years ago?

I want to get a 30 or 50 round mag for my 10-22, but the local gunshop says they are unavailable. I see different shops on the internet have them.

What's the deal?

I have a Bushmaster and have been very happy with it. The only reservation I would have about buying a used ar-15 is you know the previous owners shot the living heck out of it. Check out an issue of "Shotgun News" - they have a million ads for new/used ar-15's.

M-14=great weapon.
SKS=good weapon for the money. I've had a couple, never had any trouble with them. You won't win any matches with them, but that wasn't their intended purpose...
