welp me and my dad just finished building a 1970 chevelle, we tore the crappy 350 motor out of it and dropped a nice 454 in its place..hehe, the inside is all black, it looks realy good.. we still have the stock gauges but we are expecting some new ones soon:D now all i can say is ricers are slow... caz all the fixed up ricers ive rode in are no where near as fast as our chevelle, and we really have no major mods on the engine..

sounds sweet! a few of my friends had some bad muscle cars, one was a '70 chevelle built 396 BB. there was a '69 SS camaro with a 377 stroker (400 with a 350 crank) and a m22 four speed. it was black with blue pearl, one of the most beautiful paint jobs i've seen.............. ahhhhh i can almost smell the tire smoke:D

My mom had a mint conditiion 1970 Chevelle SS 454, cowl induction hood, big racing tires in the back. It was red with black pinstripes, amazing. Then she got hit by some guy in a MINOR accident, and sold it...god...if she would've never sold it I COULD'VE HAD IT NOW!

I just dont see how kids the same age as me like cars that look fugly, that are so annoying with their little crappy tin cans on the back. I prefer muscle cars. My dad has a 1957 chevy belair with a 327. I want to put a 454 in it, but my dad says its worth more if he doesnt have to do cutting and welding. He almost cried when he had to drill a hole for a seat belt. Hopefully one day, he will pass it along to me. :)

Speaking as one of the kids that is in the age group that likes the "ricer" cars, it's preety easy to explain...they're on a low budget, and want to go fast. So, they buy a Honda Civic, CRX, Del Sol, or whatever car it may be, and put cheap mods on it and pretend they go fast:rolleyes: Or make it sound like they are going fast. I like the Japanese cars alot. I don't like Civics, CRX's, Del Sols, or any of the weak cars that ricers often have. I like cars like the Skylines, 3000GT's, Supras, etc. something that can back up its mean looks.:p

i thought i 383 was a 350 with a 400 crank, cause i have to friends, one with a '71 cheyenne, and another with a '69 c-10 and they both had 383 strokers, and they had a 400 crank put in their 350.

350 with 400 crank=383
400 with 350 crank=377

ok sorry i must of seen that backwards. but why would you want a 400 with a 350 crank?? wouldn't you lose compression but get faster reving?

Got Roost?
11-17-2003, 08:46 PM
yes a 377 revs fast and high but compression just depends on what pistons you use. also since the 350 crank journals are smaller you have to get thicker main bearings.

How are you getting 500 horse out of a 454 without any major motor mods?

Seeing as the car came with a 350.It can't be either an LS5 or an LS6.

Get some pics.I love chevelle's.

Actually, he could have bought a used LS6 engine or a crate LS5 engine.
