View Full Version : Backflip???
Got Roost?

I just watched some clips of slednecks 6. Why is it that they can do a backflip on a sled, but no one seems to be able to do one on a quad?

IT could be done but no one has the nuts to do it.
Plus in the snow you have a soft landing it you crash.

I know it can be done. I was just thinking that the way they do flips on a sled looks a lot like what it would take to do one on a quad.
Hard landings didn't stop Hart and Metz from getting it done on a bike. I gess I have no room to talk though cuz I wouldn't have the nuts to try it:rolleyes:

sleds and quads are two totally different animals. a sled has way more innertia in the track to pull it around. a quad would be better of doin a backy off of a super kicker and doin a wheelie off of the lip like metz started. just my 2 cents

How is it that this question is asked so much.... Sleds have way more power and a big track to help spin them around, besides how many people have done back flips on sleds?... Not many so just settle down.

I don't know much about sleds (not enough snow around here). It was all just speculation on my part, didn't mean to start an argument:eek2: BTW I know that Hart and Metz and all those guys practiced in a foam pit first but at some point they had to go out and just go for it on a dirt ramp.
hey where in mo do u live???

yeah but he probably tryed it in a pit the first time he did it.
I don't think he just tried it and hoped for the best he tried it before.
well guess what, deegan and bartram never used foam. Also I think the first guy to do a backflip on s quad will be Sheldon Riggs. Hes got a pair o' nuts between his legs and is crazy enough to do it. I think the Guetter bros may have the balls to do it, but not the stupidity. We all know its possible, but do we REALLY know its possible???

how big of a jump do you need to possibly pull this off?why doesnt someone try doing one in the snow?ive ridden on homemade snow tracks and if they're packed they're nice.just make sure its not too mushy for a kicker.didnt deegan try the mulisha twist in foam?

Metz did not use a foam pit to practice. He baught it a few times
trying to nail the back flip. Pastrada learned his filps in the foam.

hey guys...none of the pro riders are going to do the backfip, they can't injure themselfs for race season. I would attempt one if it was live on tv, money was right pay for all medical expenses and buy me a new bike! wouldnt yall, and they would have to build a perfect ramp. I suck at riding, never raced, best trick is probally a 1 foot serrand rap, sterilizer, or a sketchy can can, but i wopuld damn sure give it a tr to become famous and rich.

with out understanding how to backflip your not gonna be rich and famous if you try one. rather you will be hurt and have a busted quad. you dont need a straight up ramp to do a backy. dirtbikes and sleds have proven this by doin them over 50+ ft gaps. its all technique

I don't know why pros don't try it. If I had a really good bike a really big jump and a REALLY big foam pit I would try it. If you have a foam pit you won't get hurt and you won't damage the bike. the only problem is getting it out of the pit.

and getting a foam pit is a hard part. i guess there not cheap. all you need to get your quad/bike/sled out of the pit is a loader that can lift high enough. just wrap a chain around someweres and hoist it out

exactly. Personally I don't think I would ever go for a flip unless I was pro or something which won't happen considering I won't have a quad for a few years after the end of december.

The backflip has already been done on a quad . Just go over to hbombfilms.com in the forum section . One guy posted soemthing about him trying it soon and everyone said he'd be the first one to do it , then Jon or Derek came on and said the guy was wrong and he'd be the 4th person to do it . Expect to see it in the video ( i think)

I saw that post over there and I would put money on Jon being the first to try it. The Guetter boys are very talented.
