i would say a 300ex would do u pretty decent. there ok to jump. a blaster is also a good quad to learn on.

Everyone knows the best beginner quad is the 400ex. Very mild power and handles great. Once you get better and more experienced you can move to a real quad like say a Cannondale or YFZ450.....

The 400ex is probably hands down the best beginner quad you can buy..........JIM

Yep, I'd buy a 400EX if you can. You might get bored real quick with anything smaller.

400ex!;) I say start out big, and grow into it though. If you can afford it get the YFZ. IMO thats the way to go, but I dunno.

go with the 400ex. As you get better at ridiing, put more $ into it and make it better also.
