I like blasters. Just make sure to get the newer models with disc brakes. Plus when you get tired of their power, you can throw a pipe and stuff on it and it will respond a lot better than a 4 stroke. If your a big person though I wouldn't suggest it.

as long as the beginner knows to expect a snappy powerband yes. if he/she is expecting it to be real smooth like a 300ex, it could be dangerous

my main beef with them is they handle liek **** and dont last even with proper maintence....

crappy handling dost not bother me i ride a boyue 220 that has no handling and i own a yamaha pw big weel 80 from 1988 so handling is not a problim

I had an 89 Blaster back in... 89! It was a fun quad, especially for the price. My biggest complaints were the brakes, and they were narrow. Unlike freeride's experience, I didn't have any problems with it. Maintenance was easy, chain adjustment kind of sucked, though. Like someone else said, get a 2003 with the disk brakes.

I must somehow get the best of what Yamaha has to offer. The Blaster gets trashed on here, they're nothing but junk. I had no problem with mine. The Raptor gets trashed on here, they're nothing but junk. I again had no problem with mine. Maybe it's the meticulous care everything I own gets? :confused:

Of course I'd never believe a Warrior could do those jumps in the other thread...
