Just installed je 416 with hotty stage 2 and mild port job in a 400ex. I know there's alot of people with this setup and was wondering if you changed you jetting and if so, what exactly did you do like how many sizes you changed your main jet. I don't have it broke in yet but it seems to be too rich.

Do you have any other mods? Does the carb still have the stock jets? 38 pilot and 148 main? If so, you are probably not running lean. I am not sure what other dudes us as far as jetting, but I imagine your main will probably be around or higher than a 155.

peace

i have a similar setup as you but with a complete pipe and airbox mods this is what i do:

158 main in the summer
162 in winter
160 for the months in between
a 42 pilot should be fine. i imagine you will need to be inbetween 2.25 and 3 turns out on the fuel skrew depending on the temp. in the winter it might be ok to run the clip on the jet needle in the 4th position.

168 main
42 pilot
needle 4th clip
2and 3/4 turns out on air screw
no choke
no airbox lid

Runs pretty good.

I ran a 165 when I had the stock carb and it was perfect.

Holeshot, dont just go with any combination these guys give you because your location and weather has a lot to do with it. where are you located and what is your sparkplug looking like??

I live in florida but haven't checked the plug yet but it won't idle and is running hot so i figure its pretty lean right now. how many sizes up should i go up, so i know what main jets to order, thanks for ya'lls help so far.

Start by jumping up 2 sizes. Then go up 1 by 1 until u reach the right jetting. Get a new plug too.

The "right jetting" is defined as what?

if your running hot, it may not be due to your main. it could be due to your needle and/or fuel skrew location.

When the plug is a light brown color. You need to check if after you change jets each time. I jsut went up to a 158 on my 416 for the winter. Usually i run a 155 but with the thinner air i have to bump it up.
