I have small hands and I noticed that I am having trouble using the brake and keeping my thumb on the throttle. I am having to move my hand too much. So I was wondering if anyone used a shorter or adj. brake lever.

I have used shorty brake levers before on bikes, and you lose a lot of stopping power from the reduced leverage. Have you tried to adjust the position of the lever and/or throttle to better accomodate your grip? I use a shorty clutch lever that is adjustable and like it. They also offer adjustable shorty brake levers which I am sure you can get. This will hopefully fix your problem and keep the same pull as a longer lever at the same time. I know what you are talking about though. I remember when I was just a little guy riding threewheelers having trouble controlling the throttle and brake at the same time. :)

I don't even use the front brakes....ever. You don't need to. Stocker pads are on my 99 400ex.:eek2:

WHAT! I ALWAYS use my front brakes on everything! Bretter stopping power, and on the track sometimes i use them to like throw my back end out, I cant ever get my foor on my foot brake!

To each his own Narly. I only ride sand so, using the fronts on real steep stuff is real stupid. I've seen folks eat $hit so bad using the fronts on steep sand dunes.

I also use the motor and downshifting to slow myself. I have stocker rear pads on the 1999 400ex also. Weird, I know.

I was thinking about a shorter break lever...cause I like the feeling of a short one, like on a dirt bike or somthing. But I use the front brake all the time also, to help whip around the rear, or just simply to help slow down, so how much breaking power would I lose?

I read about the levers for small hands. Went to the site of RTC and was pretty confused on what to get. I have a '06 Suzuki Vinson. I would need the Rear Break (left side) and the Front brake (right side) levers. Is it possible to change both? I am getting the extender for the accelorator. I have to ride with my thumbnail holding down the gas, and on left turns, have to let go.

Sure hope someone can help. Thanks.

I happen to have huge hands so I am not much help here.

but I have found that by tipping the brake lever doun and angling the throttle up it makes it a lot easier to control things.

Thank you mittimj for replying.

My hands don't even touch the levers. I have to let go of the handle to use the brake. Pretty scary doing that. So I think moving them down, would make them further away.

Do you happen to know anything about the "RTC levers" ?
Those were recommended in this thread to someone with same problem.

Thanks.. Bette
