View Full Version : 400ex header pipe turns bright red! need help

y is my headers turning bright red hot, i am running synthetic oil, its cold outside, i run 93 gas, my bike is all stock, i have an extra light hooked up underneeth my frame to the brake light, its opne of those neon underglo car lights. why is my pipe overheating teribally

if they glow at idle, turn your fuel skrew out some. if they glow between 1/8 and 3/4 throttle, your needle is a little lean. if they glow at full throttle, go up on the main jet.

the fuel screw is the one thats on the bottom (not the very bottom) right?

the fuel skrew is on the very bottom of the carb. it is rather hard to get too if you don't remove the carb. it is actually right behind the idle skrew (silver flat head skrew on the bottom left side of the carb) when looking from the left side. this fuel skrew is bronze and it is not on the side of the carb, but on the bottom.
