Help me convince my dad!

I don't know if this is a stupid topic or anything, but I need help on some reasons why I want to shave my front fenders on my 400EX, I've already asked my dad and even went as far as to outline where I would cut them with some tape just to give him an idea. When I asked him he asked me why I wanted to do that and I said "because all the racers do, it makes it lighter, and a little bit aerodynamic."

He told me no and said that it would make the "machine" shake:grr: I have to ask him because he's the one that shelled out the money for the whole quad, except the exhaust and tires. Has anyone had to ask their parents here if they can cut them and given them a good enough reason?:o

PLEASE help! I want to shave my fenders, but don't want to get my arse kicked if I do it behind his back. Which I won't do anyway.:rolleyes:

The quad isnt fast enough to use the excuse of aerodynamics.
It won't make the quad shake.
You will be able to see the tires in a race.(also good on tight trails)
You're gonna get a lot muddier with out the fenders.

Well since I don't do any MX, (I do go to some local tracks once in a while.) I do like the look of a 400EX with the shaved fenders. That's the main reason of why I want them shaved. Maybe I'll tell him that I need to see where my tires are in relationship to the rocks, and whoops. And mud really isn't an issue anyway, I don't mind getting muddy:p

yeah listne to your dad, shaved fender are for MX ONLY and since you dont race, it dont matter, areo dynamics and wiegh of that bit of plastic dont either, if you want to do anything as far as cutting gut them like the gold west cycle dester racer, still leaves alot of the fender but you can see the tires alot better.

just tell him you think it looks better and if he still says its stupid open up a dirtwheels and show him all the quads that have shaved fenders. After the 50th quad hll be like SHUT UP JUST DO IT!

Here's what you do. Save up $30-$40 and call C&D Racing and buy a new set of front OEM fenders for your 400EX. Then tell your dad that you've got a brand new full set of fenders should you need them and you'd like to shave the old set. More than likely your father will appreciate your initiative and maturity and let you cut the fenders knowing there's a new set should he not like it after it's done.

I was going to do that, but I didn't know that C&D sells them for so cheap, I found them on www.rockymountainatv.com for like $125 and said fook that! Thanks for letting me know C&D has them I'll probably give them a call!;)

yeah, i dont think you can buy new ones that cheap. you can get on ebay an buy a used set for like $25 and cut them...if you and your dad like them...then do it to the good ones

New OEM fenders are around $80.

Where can I find the OEM fenders? Do they have the plastic that wraps around the lights, because my lights are still on and I'm not going to take them off..:)
