Sell the truck and take your money to the Chevy or Ford Dealer.

I did a dual system on mine, did nothing for it but suck more gas.

Check into a Borla system. Call HMF and put dual Vforce 700 cans on it.

Do you want to buy a system or by the mufflers and have a shop put it on?

Flowmaster has a dual system out that you can put on yourself.
Here is there site you can listen to all of their different series.

Dynomax also has a system out. Get it with the Ultra flow mufflers they sound really good. I had my friend who has his own shop put Ultraflow round welded 3"in-3"out muffler(no Cat) that spits into 2-1/2" duals at 45's out the back. Sounds really good it doesn't resonate inside the cab, nice deep tone.

If you want but it is loud but sounds really good. Go to a shop and have them go straight duals from the cat back.

They've been known for trannie problems. I have 3 friends with dodges and everone of them has had problems. Two of them fried up, both at about 100,000 miles. One was a 99 and the other was a 98. And my other friend just bought a 2001 and hes only got 32,000 on it and its aleady slipping on him. Personally I like the looks of them, but there just not up to the calibor of Chevy or Ford.

^ That is oh so true. I know of so many people who have put new trannies into those damn things.

well i know in the year 99-2001 they were using electronics with the transmission and that why people have had probelms but in 2002- now they have redesigned them to there original transmission. my dad did have a 2000 dakota and the transmission blew on him and then the let him trade straight up for a 5 speed dakota 4x4 and he had it for a year then traded it for a jeep liberty, but then he had it for half a year and traded it for a 2003 dodge 1500 and no problems yet

My friend has an '03 2500 w/ the Hemi and it's already been in the shop 3 times for the transfer case messing up. Bad thing is he has never even used 4 wheel drive. It's junk IMO and his, lol! I've had alot of friends go with Dodge and be real unhappy w/ 'em, for me to ever own one.. If you do get an exhaust system call Jegs and get the 2 chamber Flowmaster 40 series, they sound real good, but they only have what's left in the wharehouse. The rest will be the Delta series and they don't sound as good. My friend just ordered 2 for his Chevy yesterday and he had them put on today (true duals) and it sounds good. Plus he got his power back that he'd lost from straight pipes. :D

You anti Dodge guys crack me up! There is no such thing as a perfect truck. You should at least drive whatever brand you choose to dislike once. Sure, there are things about mine I don't like, but there all of the big 3 have their problems. Anyone who doesn't agree is kidding themself.
I have had 3 Rams, none with a major mechanical failure. If you take care of one and don't flog it daily you wont have any trouble.

Now, back on topic. I had duals on my 97 Ram from the local muffler shop - no muffler, cat only. It was loud but it sounded pretty good. The cat actually quiets things down more than you'd expect. I think any muffler shop could make you something that would work for your needs. If I was to do it over, I would have added a flowmaster, or some other free flowing muffler to take some of the edge off the noise level. I think s/s tips would be a much better choice than the chrome I had on mine too. Other than that I had no real complaints with the system.
Good Luck

my mom owned a 99 dodge ram 1500 4x4, i drove it up north towing the quads a couple times and it sucked, the truck just fell apart so quick. it had 90,000 miles on it and my dads 95 gmc sierra 1500 4x4 with 270,000 miles was in better condtion. i know about dodge/chrysler we have owned several. they are junk.

Three buddies with Dodges. Three new trannies. One at 110,000, another at 60,000, the other at 30,000.

This might sound *** backwards. This does work and gives good power for general driving and very good power for towing. I had this done on the last two chevy PU with 350 motors and getting ready to do it to my wifes tahoe.

Instead of dual exhaust. You go with a 3" single exhaust from the cat converter to the tail pipe. A good free flowing muffler along with it. There are some that are louder than others. When i had it done to my last truck the power difference was very good along with about 20 miles more per tank of gas. You also install a K&N filter to top it off. My friend did it to his rig and gained another ten miles per hour going up the summit pulling his very large trailer on our last trip.
Single is better than dual when it comes to towing. The sound also is pretty cool depending on the muffler. You just need to find a good muffler shop who knows how to do it right.

As far as the big three. I don't like ford. Had to many problems with my last one. Chevys were generally good trucks. Dodge has had problems with the transmissions, however allot of it was computer problems. They do have a better transmission on the 03. I now have a 03 2500 cummings. Gota love that cummings :D If i was going gas it would have been another chevy. My only complaint with my last chevy was all the other chit that went wrong. Complete A/C system at 70,000, Power brake booster, three different door handles. ect. The 350 motor, transnmission and rear end had no problems.

I totally agree!! Every truck will have a flaw somewhere!

I've got a 96' ram with the 360 with no probs yet at 85000 miles. I got the stock system with a gutted cat and a thrush glasspack. Best sound you can get for 20$. IMO the flowmasters and higher end mufflers sound better, but I don't have enough money for that.

My dads dodge has almost 200,000 miles and is still to have a problem. On the other hand my moms '98 van(dads truck is an "89) that is a chevy has been in the shop many many many times for work. We also have a ford mustang, and I would say out of all 3 the dodge and ford are the best.

Yeah I forgot about that. A friend of mine had a '98 SS Camaro and he did the exhaust like that. He said it ran better w/ the single pipe than w/ the duals. :D

I'd take the truck to a muffler shop and have them install a " turbo" style muffler; flowmaster, thrush, gibson, borla, whatever. Then have them run a y-pipe off of this splitting to make your duals either side or rear exit. Then finish it with some end caps preferably "megs" stainless ones the long 28" ones. As for duals affecting your gas mileage I will just add this one comment. Most people who install a dual exhaust want to hear it , so they get on it alot more, run high rpm's in a lower gear so it roars. So these practices could decrease your mileage , not the exhaust it self. Now as far as the quality of dodge trucks. I have purchased 5 new rams in the last 9 years. So yes I like them. Out of these 5 truck I have put a total of 230,000 miles and haven't had a single problem. I take care of my vehicle and trade often because I like new things. As far as the tranny problem on dodge's I have also heard of it, but it's always some one heard of it never met a person who actually did. I am not saying it hasn't happened but some times things get blown way out of proportion. If all of these rumors were true my truck would have a bad tranny and my z-400 would have a cracked frame , but guess what hasn't happened. The tranny is different on the 03' and up 1500's it's now a 5spd auto. I'm currently driving an 03' and "yeah it's got a hemi" :blah: ;) :blah:
