View Full Version : How far do you drive to work

11-14-2003, 02:24 PM
I spend like 1.5 hours in my truck a day getting to and from work. How far do some of you drive to get to work and back??

I'm only like 27 miles from work but I go thru downtown Louisville so it takes me about 45 minutes to get there...

Rico - I'm in the same boat as you, traffic around here SUCKS!! I have to go 27 miles each way too, but I have to go across the damn bridge each way. It takes me an hour plus at least a couple of days a week to get there in the morning, about 45 on the good days and 45 to get home. I really got screwed. My office used to be 3 miles from my house and last year right after we bought this house they announced that we were moving out to Lynn Station Rd. :cuss:

It takes me roughly 10 minutes to get to work. I know it's rough driving that far but somebody has to do it............:blah:

Takes me an hour to go to work and an hour and a half to get home. It's a little under 30 miles away. This is taking some backroads to avoid traffic and about 10 miles of freeway driving.
Now that I'm back at school, it's 15 minutes each way... walking :D

it takes my roughly 2 mins to get up to the farm behind my house. but when i work construction for my dad it is 5 mins to the office and when we are on a job site it takes long. like the job that where are doin now, a new subdivison that is 1 mile long it is like 20-25 mins away and we got another job that is 30-45 mins. so it is different for me depending on where i work.

26 miles each way, fourtyfive minutes to an hour to get there and an hour to an hour and a half to get home,(including the stop at the cave for a road beverage). As it gets darker and the rains get worse in the winter the drive home can take up to two hours.

37 miles if I go the shortest way. Takes bare minimum of 50 minutes. But my normal commute is 1 to 1:15.

For awhile it was taking 1:30 because they were working on the highway that I was taking.

Such a waste of time:(

It depends to day I drove round trip about 180 miles. other days I will drive about 30 round trip I am a vender and it depends on what I have going on. TODAY SUCKED. Also I was one of the people stuck on I-71 wed. the wreck happened about an hour before I got to the road block and I sat in traffic for almost 2 most to hours. But I got paid for it sitting there.

Oh piss off! I hate this time of year! Going to work in the dark, coming home in the dark:grr: Oh and all those cheery Christmas shoppers across the street at Southcenter mall. Just out there to ***up my commute:cuss:
This is the time of year that I drink the most. All those shopping moms out there in a "shoppers euphoria" yappin on the cell phone and not payin attention to the road.
God I cant wait till summer so all the moms will have to stay home and watch the nose miners, and stay off of the road:mad:

I remember driving from Clarksville to Nashville on a few occasions. I miss the Italian Street Fair there in Nashville. Do they still do that? I got a ticket for sleeping on the freeway on the way home from a MotleyCrue concert in Nashville. Damn trooper scared the chit outta me:D

Depends where i am going. I own an inspection company. Every day is different. Can range from 10 minutes - an hour and half. Depends where the house or building is. Not uncommon to drive 50-75 miles in a day. Traffic in the last few years has gotten bad.

Have you ever spoken to Kristen White?

I know what you mean about the 2hr winter driving:mad: It gets so bad here, that I used to make tracks in the wrong lane comming home from work so my mom could make it through some of the drifts in her taurus. Road commision needs to wake up a bit earlier.

Just venting a bit, I worked over 13hrs today:grr:

it's not that bad of a drive. takes about 35 min. the only thing that bothers me is the gas. ~$35 a week, but i don't complain too much, i'd never own anything with less than a V-8 in it :D

Sounds like me an Pappy are in the same boat. I drive about 1 and 10 minutes to work. During the week, I also drive and additional 1/2 hour from work to college, and the return trips are obviously the same time. I've had my car just a little over 3 years, and I've put 100,000 miles on it.

Our company policy on van's is 3 years or 70,000 miles, whichever comes first. I chalked 74,000 miles in 19 months. I just got my new van at the end of September and I just turned 12,000 miles.

our policy is "run them into the ground" until major maint is required. Those SOB's just sank $3000 into my rebuilt tranny when it had 140k on it. I was really hopin they would junk it.

Wow, what's the blue book on a '99 Astro with 140,000 miles on it? You'd a thought they would've junked it. I'm pissed because I just got my new E150 a little under 2 months ago and Diebold just signed a contract with Chevy to provide our vehicles:cuss: We now have a choice of Astro, Express (fullsize van), Silverado 1500 with V6 or Silverado 2500 with V8. I'm stuck with this POS Ford for the next 58,000 miles. It's only got 12,000 miles on it and I'm already having problems. A pipe that's welded in the cat has broke so it rattles now at idle and my front brakes feel like they're warped already.
