I currently have a 130 dyno jet in my bike and its running rich, for my new elevation is suggests a 146 dyno jet. The 146 is bigger and wouldnt this make me run even richer? I need help on what jet I should run, my elevation is at 500-600ft and it averages about 21-34 degrees outside.

I run a 146 in mine right now with all the motor work and full exhaust, and the lid on with no holes in it. Runs great in warm temps and i'll probably leave it there all winter to be honest. Why you think it's rich,,stumblin when you give it gas???

black plugs..... and not the worlds best throttle response. I'm running a yoshi exhaust and kn filter with lid for engine mods. lil black smoke is coming out too.

Poor throttle response can actually be a lean condition too. Doed the quad respond better with the choke on or off? Try dropping a size on the main. Thats a pretty small main in there now, but it seems to need a leaner one. Worth a shot. What clip is the needle on?

the clip is on the 3rd slot from the top on the needle. Do we lean out in the winter or richen? also i have the 146 dyno jet in there now and it runs ok except a lot of back fire on acceleration after deacceleration and if i go from no throttle to full throttle it just bogs. I hate to sound like such an idiot but I was never good at jetting.

I'm at about the same elevation as you. I'm running a 142. I prevously had a 146 and I seemed a little rich.

But you do richen it up in the winter. Try the 142 and see if that makes a difference. It only takes a couple seconds to change the MJ.

Also, where is your air/fuel mixture set at? That may need a 1/2 turn to help.

a black plug doesn't necessarily mean your rich on the main. you could be rich on the needle and/or pilot/fuel skrew. a 130 in a 400ex is probally too small. for winter months, you will want to go richer on the jets.
