well it all started 7 days ago. the title company that is handling the sale of our old home contacted us and informed us that we needed a ZERO balance statement for a 2nd mortgage we had in 1996. that 2nd mortgage was paid in full in 1996. 1996!!!!

the plots sickens. we think it shouldnt be any problem...so we request a statement of balance from that mortgage company and we are informed that the request takes 30 days to fill. 30 FRIGGON DAYS:mad: remember i only had 7 days to work with. so after 100's of phone calls ....its settlement day on both houses and im screwed:grr: the title company relays to us that all we need to do is take $12,000.00 and have it at settlement to cover the second mortgage (yeah the one thats been paid off since 1996) so now i have to tie up 12k for the next 30 days:macho

i dont care if a lawyer ever helps me again...id still wish the black plague on him for eternity:mad:

stupid question, didn't you recieve something from the 2nd mortgage stating that the mortgage was paid in full? Check those files.

I love that it takes the mortgage company 30 days to do a reprint of an old mortgage. Between them and the banks I don't know who is worse.

Should we start a Exriders Pappy Loan? I'm sure we can scrounge up 120k in 7 days.

well, when the interest rates dropped at the end of 96 we refinanced. that company was responsible for the transfer of the account. they have provided a statement showing they paid off the original mortgage company and also a statement showing i paid that loan off in 2002. the title company insists they must have the original statement from the first company.:huh its gonna take all my strength to keep from kicking the dogsnot out of the title company rep today at settlement:grr:

You might want to remove that. You don't want to show this was premediated (sp) That way when you kill the rep, you can claim it was temp. insanity:D

I think when those reps screw up like that, they should get there arse kicked. Maybe they would be a little more proactive, instead of just saying sorry sir.

its not uncommon in the business world to use others money. but to screw someone for it just aint right. im checking now to see if i can get any fee's covered from where i had to draft money out of my retirement account. i will make these poor excuses for human beings pay.

Sorry to hear the troubles Pappy, but some lawyers can be useful. Our ATV club is currently being sued by a psycho Yami dealer owner that we had to kick out of our club because he was undermining us and trying to take our club $. Needless to say we now have a lawyer defending us and making him look like a fool.
Basically a frivolous lawsuit. Good luck bud! :(

it still amazes me that someone can walk into a car dealership and drive away with the most expensive car the same day. but, try and goto the bank to get a loan to buy a house and its like your asking for the mortage reps first born.

Tell me about it. I've bought twelve houses in the last two years. Whenever the seller insisted on using their title company, things always got fubr'ed.

Some of the things they tried to pull on me were downright criminal. I explained to them that this wasn't my first rodeo, and my attorney, who is also my father, would be at the table in ten minutes, and he hasn't had breakfast yet.
