are 250x's any good. how do they compare to other machines. also when was the last year they made this

Yeah. I have a 87 250x and it runs better than a brand new 300ex. They stopped theme in like 92 they first made them in 87. They were almost the top fourwheelers back in the day.

Well considering they are basically the same. I find it hard to believe yours runs better then a brand new 300ex.

I also know it was not the top 4-wheeler in the day. Honda's best is the 250R, it still is and will be until the trx450r is out.

FMF RULES how old are you and have you ridden before. If you have ridden before I would look into a 400ex instead.

ok, lets get the facts straight. i am 14, i have been riding for 2 years. and i have had a lightly modded warrior for almost a year. i am asking about this for my friends younger brother. just clearing this up. what kind of performance do these have and can you mod them very easily?

OK, Lets just say they were good running 4 strokes.....I know the 250R was the best in that day and time....My friend has a new 300ex and I kicked his butt....That doesn't make mine the fastest there ever was, but I did cream him....They are pretty depentable, but they can give you a fit when there is a problem (Like any other ATV)

how would it do against a stock or slightly modded blaster?

The blaster should EAT it. Blasters are pretty quick little 2-strokes. But it also depends on the rider. They respond a lot better to mods then a 300ex or 250x.

Dupontster what do you have done to your 250x and what does he have done to his 300ex?

geuss what guys, 250x's are faster than 300's. they have a shorter stroke, higher compression and are lighter. both are great quads. if he is just starting to ride, he will love it

It is bored .040, White Bros cam, FMF power Core 4, and a few other things just to make it look good.....I'm not saying it is the fastest in the world, but it holds its own for a little 250 - 4 stroke.....

Yup. My friend has an 87 250x and I'd say it's a little faster than my 300. I think they both are great quads and they respond to mods very well. I think he'll be thrilled with it.

They are faster, shorter stroke, lighter, I have heard to put the 300ex jug and head on the 250x bottom end.

stock for stock the 300ex and 250x will eat the blaster up especially on long tracks

now if you mod the blaster out, a-rms swinger engine work, they run very fast

the 300/250 can be modded out to compete and win also.

If you look at the GNC class for 14-15 year olds the top three winners were blasters, and they were maxxed out, look at the names of riders. they made every race $$$$$$$ but as the class went on race to race more 14-15 one race wonders started to show up and some won and placed well on hondas, with minimal mods. The big track will favor the 300/250, its just hard to pull out on those blastes on the corners.

next years 14-15 class will be big, since they are thinking about allowing 13 year olds in. well see

I've kicked my neighbors blasters @$$ many times with my 250x in drag races hill climbs and trails. The 250x is faster than the 300ex. They are pretty much the same thing but there are a couple differences.The 250x is lighter cuz it has kick start and the 300 has electric. The 250x has a higher rev CDI than the 300 by about 100rpm not much but it still helps. My 250x is pretty fast and it is slightly moded for performance pipe, filter, jets, an better air flow. I like it quite a bit but after 4 years it just aint enough no more so im sellin it for a 400 but i think the 250x will be a great quad for a begginer

i see many 240xs and 300s at the youth races. mostly they only race against blasters . with the rite gearing its easy to beat a blaster;)

i had a modded blaster and loved it but then i got my 300ex and i love it!im workin on moddin it.its got alot stronger 3rd and 4th than my blaster.altho i kicked my friends *** on supercross wen i had my blaster and he had his 300ex but he kicked mine on motorcross.

I have got a 250x with Full race ported head.cam,300big bore kit,stiffer clutch springs,full dg exhaust. And it smokes my brothers 300ex piped and jetted, And blasters need not apply. I run mx and can mix it up with the bigger displacment quads no problem. I will sell him mine race ready.:)

i got a full race 300ex and soon a full race blaster(just give me a few months to order parts:devil: ) both have great potetial power wise, but the honda handles better. w/ equal hp, the honda will smoke the blaster on any track

hey man i got an 87 250x and im 15. its a good little bike and it can take a lot of abuse. it has been pretty dependable for as long as ive had it but i have had my fair share of problems. you really cant expect to much from a quad 16 years old though.
my one buddy got a 300ex and were pretty much dead even power wise that is. he has a little more bottom than i do but im just as good on top as him. he is a good bit faster than me but i put a smaller front sprocket on and smaller tires so that makes a dif. my other buddy has a pretty moded blaster and i dont stand a chance on drag races of anykind but on a small track or on trails and hills im faster than him.
