will a aftermarket header pipe make that much difference? i am thinking about getting a fmf hi flow header. i currently run a ct slip on with the stock header. everything i read says it is supposed to increase low and mid range power... any opinions on this? thanks!!!

I am thinking about going with the FMF powerbomb header with my wb slip-on...I have heard a lot of good things about that set up:D

if its bigger in diameter than stock there will be power gains.;)

Not quite, you basically need a worked motor to bother buying a header most quads. So dont bother wasting your money if your motor is stock. If you look the headers arent usually much bigger on aftermarket 400ex headers any how.

I got a full HMF system and headpipe is huge. NO POWER DIFFERENCE just moved the powerband and got very loud

yes, i think you may in fact loose power??? you need back presure.

i agree, you might not gain power. many of the aftermarket headers for the 400ex are very very similar to the stock ones. i haven't proved that getting a complete system even on a slightly modded engine helps.

Technically when designing a motor the headpipe length, radii, and diameters all have effect on the airflow through a specific head design. When designing a headpipe for any modded motor, a flow bench and dyno is really the only way to truly dial them in. Bigger is NOT necessarily better.

The best way is really to use kit systems which have been designed to work together and stick with the package, unless you really want to dig deep into your pockets for your gains. Otherwise you could risk losing power.
