What kind of oil should i use for my 250r break in. We have temperatures from 0 to -10 degrees at this time of the year. I normally use motul 800 but i heard that synthetic oils are not good for break in.

That's right, you want to use a petroleum-based oil for at least the first tank of gas. I would take it easy and let it warm up good in those kind of temps too.

Use the same oil for break-in your going to run at your normal ratio.

Exactly. I highly suggest Mobil MX2T, and you should always mix at 32:1.

I mix mine at 32:1 but put a bigger jet in it to brake it in, needs a lot of lubercation, and dont go past 1/2 throttle for a bit. Just the norm, i dunno what mix would be good..... I use CITGO because I get it for free, seems to be fine......:ermm:

No, thats a common misconception. You shouldn't alter the engine at all for break in. You should put premix or assembly lube on the wrist pin and rings when assembling, but thet isn't even NECESARY. I know plenty of engine builders who build engines dry and start them right up.

No mention of 2 strokes in that article, it states it applies to all 4 strokes. The picture of the F6 pistons is amazing, I've never seen a piston come out of an engine that was ran with no carbon or coloration at all, Hmmmm.....

It does mention two-strokes a bit if you read all of it. The principles are the same in either; you need cylinder pressure to properly seat the rings (which you don't get at low throttle positions), but you don't want to do a long extended WFO run because of the extra heat generated during the break-in. Lots of short full throttle bursts is the way to go, IMO.
