I'd say you are better of getting a different brand of piston, like JE or Ross. Wiseco pistons don't always live up to their compression specs. Contact C&D Racing, they'll hook you up...

Ah, the classic Wiseco piston debate.

I don't think you can judge the brand as a whole by one batch of "incorrect pistons". I swear by Wiseco.

so answer to the question would be it is a god choice or not? would i see a difference or do i need a 310 kit or bigger?

i think that the compression is more important than the size of the bore. i only went 1mm bigger on my 400ex to make it a 406. however, i went from the stock 9.1:1 to 11:1 compression. i also put in a stage 2 cam. this made a huge difference. you should notice a nice difference with a high compression piston and cam, however you will be wanting more the day its broke in. :D you just get use to the power quick.

The Wiseco piston for the 300ex is to low from the top of the pin to the deck. You can use the 250x Wiseco piston that has 0.20 higher deck. It will give 12.5:1 but you can take 0.60 of the dome and bring it down to 11.5:1 which will run on pump gas. It also has deeper valve pockets so if you run 12.5:1 you can run alot bigger cam, but you will need race gas. You could get even more out of it with boring it 0.80 over using the 250x piston which would give you 13:1.

mickey dunlap what would i be looking to spend for a rebuild with a 250x pistion .080 and a race cam to fit with port and polish, i want it done right not just to get by. and is their anything else i would need to have done?

It would cost $855. total if I built the motor here. You would also need to get rid of the rev- limiter.(I dont do this mod. anymore)

when i was looking at getting a JE or Ross piston they told me those companys dont make normal piston sizes for the 300. they just make like the 330 piston.

what would i get for 855? what parts and labor included?
would i have to pay anything else besides shiping?
thanks

We use a Wiseco piston and my cam to my specs depending on what compression ratio you run and what type of riding you are doing. This is the best kit you can put in it as far as boring it in only but the 330 kit is better by far. We are so busy all the time there is no way I can give a turn-around time on motors. Starting mid-December motors come in here so fast that there is no way to keep track of time or when they will go back out.
