It's certainly possible to paint it, but it's not nearly as durable as powdercoat. If you plan on painting it, you may want to skip the clear coat so that you can easily touch up the little nicks and scratches.

I spray painted mine, turned otu just fine. Ive had mine in every condition and it held up good the only places it will really come off is on the bottom Arms and places that your shoes or what ever rub ALOT but big deal powdercoat dose that too. I'm redoing mine this winter worked pretty good for me.

I've done it...came out good, PJ1 frame paint i got from the honda shop

yes it chips but only if a rock or somethin hits it

you just need to do a good prep job on it (lotta sanding)

The longer you take to prep it the better it turns out in the end. I always painted my frames, but I got it PC'd once and it is a lot more durble and nicer looking longer.

I Just had my frame painted and then i did not liek how easy it scratched so i went and had it Powdercoated and there is nothing like it. Very hard and not easy to stratch. Personally i would go get it powdercoated. Ryan

Spend the extra money and get it powdercoated. I've done it both ways and I've ran the same powdercoat on my R for two full seasons now and it looks brand new! Paint chips too easy and once it starts chiping it spreads like wild fire!

You will be OK if you paint it. I would lay down several coats of primer, and about 10 coats of color, and another 10 of clear.
