Anybody think honda will release a 650ex as an '05 model? A quad to go head to head with the raptor. The 450r is to sweet but the how and where I ride demands reverse. Hopefully a new 650 would come with reverse.

whats so hard about picking up your quad or whip a donut to turn it around!! nothin is ever enough with you people, "oh when are we going to see a race ready quad from honda" in my ind the 450 will smoke a raptor and a good rider wont need reverse!

plus what kind of conditions would you absolutly have to have reverse anyhow? ive never ever needed reverse.

Woods with lots of trees, branches, water, mud; those kinds of things, boy. I make alot of my own trails. Having reverse has nothing to do with skill of a rider, and most of us could care less about an mx track.

Honda does not need a 650ex in my opinion. This is what I think they should do. Drop the 300ex because of the 250ex. Then make a new machine using the 400ex as the base but installing reverse and maybe some different gearing. Then hopefully they will release a new 450ex using the 450r chassis with electric start and 400ex style suspension to get the price down.

That's about all I do is make new trails and ride tight ones that we do have. Lot's of mud and it seems like about 10 new trees fall over the trail everyday. I had a quad with reverse a long time ago and used it often. When I finally got a quad w/o reverse, it took me about a month to get used to and now I don't see the need for reverse at all unless your quad weighs about 600lbs. in the first place. Even in trails, reverse is easy to live without.

yea thats what i was thinkin cheetah. some people are either one of two things too lazy to pick it up or they simply arnt being smart about the ways they take through the woods.

I did the same thign when i went from the 300ex to the 400ex, just takes a little bit of time and you'll never have to worry about it again....look at all the top gncc'rs, you dont hear them complainin about not havin reverse in those crazy mud races

Honda should update the 300ex (make it a 350ex) to compete better w/ the warrior. Leave the 250ex the same. Update the 400ex to get a couple more ponies out of it to compete w/ the Kawauki machine better, and they should make a 450X w/ electric start and reverse and make a big bore just so they make money cuz sum ppl like those heavy poor handlin quads:cool:

i was thinking about removing the reverse from my 300, but i decided not to..cuz u only lose a couple pounds, and a couple pounds isnt worth reverse..its not neccessary, but it does come in handy sometimes..u have to admit, pulling up a lever is easier than getting off the quad and pulling it :p

YOU GUYS ARE OBVIOUSLY EITHER 8 YRS OLD, OR COMPLETE IDIOTS. The quads honda has out now are just fine. THATS WHY THEY ARE CALLED HONDAS. The 400 DOES NOT need reverse. U are increadably lazy and cant get off your seat and push once in a while. How do you even know what the 450r is like, have any of you riden it? no. If the 400ex was made more powerful with a better frame and suspension, wouldnt you basicaly just have the 450? And with a few mods the 400ex can easily keep up with almost any other 400-450. A 650 ex would be pointless, and in my opinion the 400ex has pleanty of power for trails, and is a hundred times more reliable then any of the other competition. So lets just leave the disigning up to the experts, and stop complaining about stupid things. IF YOU WANT REVERSE GET A SUZUKI.

400ex Owner right here, mad mods.......

hmm this is interesting http://www.exriders.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=83786

what kind of mods does you 400ex have? where abouts in CT are you?

and by the way let the old posts die..unless they are good ones...with comments like those you are just asking for trouble

hmmm you call us 8 years old, but even though you're 23 I could bet 97.3% of the 13 year olds on here have shown more self control than you have :o

Why are you people being so hardcore about reverse? Its nice to have sometimes. No I don't have it nor do I need it. When I am leading on a trail ride and I run into a dead end, sometimes there isn't a place to just whip it around. I had to push the cannibal this past weekend and I wasn't even in the lead spot. It didn't kill me to push it but it would have been easier to just kick it into reverse. Don't be so hard on these that want it...thats all I'm saying.

I agree with you 100%:) It is kinda fun to tease the people who whine about it though:devil:

I'd like to have reverse just because i'm getting old and lazy:p Might have to look into a utility quad!

I don't think I would go that far Joe. Hell, I doubt I would buy a quad just for reverse. It doesn't mean that much to me, just an added bonus if I happen to like that particular quad. Sometimes I think I would like to go back to a utility until I get on the ol polaris. Then I have a quick change of mind. lol.

JOEX

LOL! I think there will be a 'transition' period to the utility class;) I'll get a utility for a 'second' quad and it will slowly become the primary ride:eek2::blah:

Reverse is nice to have, but you don't need it..get your lazy a$ses off your quad and push the shizznit. Or buy something else.

But , I think the reason some of us want to see the 650ex is because the trx450r will not respond so well to mods.
It is well known that the yfz responds in kind to mods. It really perks up.
the trx450r is not so easy to pull good numbers out of.
the unicam design is inferior in that regard.
that is one reason the 250r was so loved , there is no real end to the mods you can do to it.

as for reverse , I miss it about 1 time every 6 months. it is not worth much to me.
