XR only "HRC copy cam"???

I was going to get a "XR 400" cam I felt it was the best choice for the trail riding i do...But then I heard about this "HRC copy cam" It's supposed to be a more aggressive cam. Does any one know any INFO about this cam???Would it be a better choice...Is it a drop in...Thanks

I don't know the duration of the HRC cam but the XR cam is 244 in and 244 out. The stock cam in contrast is 224 in and out.
Also the hotcam is 246 in and out (stage 1) and same for WEB. The XR is a great choice, you don't need to get the rocker hardend and it comes with the decompresser.

I have a stage 1 Hotcam and I love it, except for the no comp. release.

I am curious about the "HRC copy cam" also, has anyone tried it. Is it the same as the real HRC? I can't even find a price for a real HRC cam anywhere....I am thinking about a hotcam stage II but it doesn't have the compression release so that kind of bothers me. I have a FCR 39mm on the way, and I am thinking of a 416 kit.

The XR cam is 240 on the Intake (and 244 on the exhaust). A little less intake duration and lift than the HC stage 1.

I just found the HRC Cam on Servicehonda.com for $277, part #14000-NKK-000. I think I am going with it, because it is completely drop in, has the compression release unlike most of the aftermarket cams, and good ole Honda reliability.

Im getting parts and everything rounded up for my 440 Im building but last night I deiced I was going to thow in a lil more then just the good ol 440 kit so its getting stroked to... I called the Honda dealer about 15 mins ago about a HRC cam and they said call back Saturday and they will have a price and more info on it for me... Thats the cam I think Im going to go with.. cant beat honda? But Once I find out about Ill let everyone know about the HCR

I can get my HRC cam for my 400 for 199 bucks is what that guy told me at the local shop... I just told them to get me one Saturday soo it should be here sumtime soon..

i don't see the hrc being that cheap. i really hope he didn't give you the xr400 cam in the hrc's place. many shops that i see don't know the difference.

Hey Cals400ex... Ya when I talked to the guy at the local shop by me... He told me 199 for the cam.. I did some looking in it befor i even thought about getting one.. and I know they go for around 290 ? or so? give or take... But i double checked with him and he said that it was the HRC cam for the 400ex was... Cause I thought it was a lil cheap myself also.. But thanks for saying sumthing cause It would have sucked if I hadnt double checked with him about the hrc cam... and got a xr cam.. But $199.00 is what it came out to be without tax...

Wow that's cheap, I'll have to check my dealership and see what they sell them for. What is the name of the shop your getting yours from? I might have to give them a call.:D

Check the part number, it should be the same as Service Honda's.
The HRC copy from Al Baker is a regrind (if memory serves me correct) the comp release is removed due to the reground cam now having a smaller base diameter. I think it's a drop in, no hard welded rockers needed as the cam is not welded up.....
