Hey guys, I am back. I have decided to keep my 300EX. Nobody wants a sweet 300ex around here so they can keep their money.

Anyhoo, I am going to mod it with suspension now. I plan on getting 400EX a-arms, keeping the works on for a while and later getting some other shocks, having my frame gusseted and beefed by a local welder, getting a new rear shock and axle. I plan on getting a plus 4 lonestar unit.
In a year or so, I want to get either a 330 kit, 352 kit, or 400 kit. I think it will be the fire breathing 400 kit though.
I need the frame gusseted because yesterday I couldn't take the "not riding to keep it clean" deal, and jumped for a while. I got a little confident, and jumped it in reverse. On the measuring tape, the jump was 30 feet. I then decided to jump it uphill. I jumped and went way over, totaling 45 feet. I cracked the loop behind the footpeg bigtime for the second time. I wanted another quad because the frame keeps breaking and I cant afford the 2500 for an aftermarket frame. Now, how does the suspension sound? Anybody know how much travel with the 400 arms? I have about 9 in. with the works on.
Thank you all for your time. :)

P.S., I(hopefully) will have quite a few parts for sale here in a while. Some aftermarket and some stockers. Cheap! In classifieds if parents let me sell them

You should have done all the suspension work before so than your frame wouldn't crack as much.

I'm sure you could sell your bike on ebay. For all the stuff you want to do with the suspension and motor work you are going to spend over $2,500. I would sell your bike on ebay then buy a 400ex.

I would love to do that, but I am not sure if it will work out very well, I could end up selling it for only 3000 bucks and that would be 1100 less than I am asking for it. I can't afford to loose that much, but in the long run, I can afford to get most of those parts. Also, I am going to keep it in the cycle trader and whenever I go riding, I will put for sale signs all over it. I am still attached to this machine though, and I don't want to loose a lot of money on it. I wish I would have done the suspension before anything, but it didn't work out that way.
Thanks for the suggestion, 77.

If i was you, i would try very hard to sell your 300. You ovilously are to hard of a rider for it. Sell it if you can. Put signs up at your local dealers and places of business.

dude, u never get what u put into it.

My bro bought a 96 accord coupe for $12,500 in like 98 or 99 and added $1200 focal rims and Nitto rubber. new exhaust, full tinitng, and 2 tinted windows busted and rpeleaced and 1 $300 Alpine sotlen. That's about 15 grand all together.

He sold it 2 weeks ago for $8600. He lost a ***** load of money.

Mitch: :D Going the opposite way around the track.
Max: yeah, that is another reason why I hesitate to sell it. I am asking half of what I have in it, and that isn't going well. If someone offers me at least 4k, I will take it. Anything less and I won't sell. But, I will just carry around signs on it and put a few posters up, but I am not that anxious to sell it anymore. Maybe in five years I will have an aftermarket frame for it and race it seriously. who knows

#77 - You looking for stock 400ex a-arms? If so, i have a sassy set of 4 including tie-rods you can have for $100. They're straight, true, and in good shape. Let me know if you'd like to work something out.

Edit: wait a sec, I forgot that most of the '01 models are welded poorly. I think I may just go for some 02's from Service Honda (www.servicehonda.com)

and i thought you had to use the 250r's a-arm's or buy aftermarket's...how much wider would the 400ex's a-arm sbe than the 300's..would i need the 400's shock's..? if so would i need to make a new braket for the top shock mount...??...so get the 250r's a-arm's and shocks or the 400's a-arms
......(-and shock's-)...??yeah i know could get after market too but i'm going the cheeper route....and honda makes good stuff

#77 the longer you wait to sell your 300 the less you'll get for it. Try putting it on ebay with a reserve. I just sold my LT250r on ebay and lost a good amount of money but it enabled me to buy my 400ex, so it was worth it.

Yeah, I'll just wait and when the cycle trader ad runs out in 3 months, I will keep it. ebay sounds like a good idea, but I find the internet a bit squirrely. I mean, you never know what type of freaks, nuts, and fruits are on the other side of the modem.
EX-CITING- you can use 400 arms, they are nearly identical to 400 arms (so I have heard) and I think they add 4 1/2 inches total (2 1/4 per side, just like plus 2 a-arms).
As far as shocks go, either you will have to do that welding job on the shock tower or have some custom works shocks made. I am just going to use my works and see how they run, until I bypass them though. If they are too soft, I will sell them and get some longer units.

This seems to be a great conversion, and I will try to get a full review to Leo for it.
Later, 77 :blah
