I was just wondering if a quad has ever jumped it. If so anyone got some pics ?

i think doug gust has jumped it..and he's been the only one so far...im not 100% positive..so please correct me if im wrong

Yeah, me too. Cause on another forum, they were talking about how sean hamblins rim looked like an egg. After he jumped it. I want to know if anyone has some pics.:cool:

Doug Gust cleared the triple down in the bottom, but never Laracco's Leap............The closest anyone ever came to my knowledge was Jeff Seegott back in 99...........he landed his front wheels on the face of the 3rd jump and broke both spindles, and cracked the frame in several places upon landing. He tried it just for kicks in practice.....di I mention he was not very bright!!!!!!!!!!!!:confused:


Anyway he was wide open from the outside of the corner, and still came up over 15 feet short of downsiding it!!!!!!!!!!

I highly doubt anyone will be clearing that on a quad in the near future!!!!:D

Well until people get pics, you cant really prove it. I searched it and some people say gust did it and some people say nobody has. Its a crazy jump, thats for sure.

Johnny_G actually has some good info though. Well someone might do it, just the question is when ?

Larocco's Leap is a huge 110 foot triple at Red Bud MX in Michigan. It's named after MXer Mike Larocco, for a similar jump on his home track.

According to the announcer at the race this year, 250cc riders were 45' above the track when clearing it. To my knowledge, James Stewart is the only one to do it on a 125.

james bubba stewart has cleared it on his 125! Still though his 125 is pry the best 125 every made. That jump is crazy, that would be cool as **** seeing a quad hit that beast!

you guys forgot to mention, its 110 triple UPHILL. big difference. the jump is insane!

Thats a good point. Although it isn't truly "uphill" since the lip of the landing and takeoff are basically even, runway before the jump is a good 20-30 feet lower than the runway following the landing. That means the face is a lot bigger and robs more momentum, thus you need even MORE speed to clear it.

Travis Spader tried it too and came up short. I think he mighta made a trip to the ER afterwords. This was brought up before and Dana Creech said he knew that Travis tried it and that was all that he knew of..:cool:

The jump is insane for sure. I think Johnny C could do it with no problem..:macho

I think that with the power the new quads like the yfz and the 450r are putting out someone will land it soon.

There's been a few 125's to clear it, pastrana, and boniface, and stewart have done it that i've seen. both pastrana and boniface ended up with a 90* angle in their front wheels though.

Well i have pics of my friend doubling it on his 400, but i still don't know how to post pics on here so i guess we won't worry about it. I hit it 4th gear pinned just to double it. I can't imagine how stupid a person would have to be to try to triple it:confused: One of the coolest things i've ever seen were the 250's pro flying over it, its jaw dropping

OH and it was named after laracoo but not becuase he has a jump like it but becuase he helped design this one, i've been to his track there is not jump like this

Yes, the added benefit of 10% Benzoyl Peroxide to the fuel gave them just enough oooomph to make it.......:rolleyes:
