match your new cable to your old one make sure they are the same.make sure the braket on sidecover is on right. stock clutches r good it just the basket u have to watch.why did u changed cable?

i have about 2 1/2 threads left,i am also having problems going into 3rd gear,i dont think my clutch is going in all the way with the slack i have in the lever,im going to try and adjust it as much as i can and see what happens.

mine is all the way at the end on the motor mount & perch, everyone ahs told me its the clutch lifter pin in my engine that snapped ($15 part+$15 gasket  ). I now have to use spacers in my clutch line so it is tighter & pulls the clutch in all the way.

The lifter pin is only $8 but the gasket is around $15. That is one of the only defects of the 400EX.

Crazy have you still not got that clutch fixed?Dont show up next weekend unless its fixed.:D If you can pull in the clutch at all even with spacers than it is not the lifter pin.Take the side cover off and inspect it call me if you need help.

found out my problem too now..it was the motion pro cable that was too long...I changed my plates, springs, & fibers out & it still had same problem so I got a new STOCK OEM cable & walla! everything is fine....  too bad I had to spend a wasted $100+ on everything to figure out all I needed was a $12 part 15 minutes away.

Its working, what I did was change the adjuster knob on the bars.
the other threads were too short. Still waiting for new cable to come it, still not in yet, but so far its working.

The stuff you bought won't go to waste, you'll use it sometime.Or you could clean the stuff up, put it back in the package and sell it on Ebay.
