I have a 440 kit and have been running the stock pilot jet, the clip two from the top and a 160 main jet with good results. That was with the stock exhaust and now I just bought an e-series slip on. What sort of jetting should I change to? I don't know where I am at to sea level, i'm in Wisconsin. I figure i need to move the clip down two notches, move up to a 165 main, but do I need to change the pilot jet? When should you change the pilot?

It sounds like you have it pretty close there.

The 440 I had before was close to that .

I think I had on the third clip and had a 165 or a 170 and a 38 pilot.

But it's hard to say for you different variable

I would say stay with wath you have right now and see how it runs and then go from there.

I got the 165 main and moved the clip, but I keep reading that it is worth upping the pilot jet, especially for winter starts, which this year in Wisconsin we are suppose to have a pretty bad one. I wonder if this increased pilot jet will bog the lowend response? I am looking at going from a 38 to a 42, any experience with a pilot jet change?

a 40 or 42 pilot jet should be just fine. it will help with starting too.
