Often times it is caused by a dust build up in the drive causing the sensors to work inconsistantly. Try blowing out the drive with compressed air or if you don't have compressed air somtimes you can just blow into the drive to clear it out.

400exrules, try what 'khen' suggested first. Is it a new pc? CD-Rom could be going out. Are the cd's rw?

ceck connections & make sure evertyhing is tight...also, if you have alot of junk on your computer I would highly recommend a format to you. maybe time for a new comoputer if this one is old or a new CD drive, not very expensive. :p

Is it making any noises? grinding? is the rom drive getting power? Did you just have it put in? - if so, call the guy that put it in, might be a made rom drive.

yeah, usually it just starts to humm and runs normally, but now it makes a clicking noise, about every 2 seconds when i put a cd in it.

I am pretty sure the "clicking" noise is the rom attempting to read the CD, however, for some reason it cannot. Contact the pc dude who installed the rom drive.

sorry man
