View Full Version : fastest modded quad? hp?

Hey guys
Im doing research for this project i have to do for school. so whats the fastest quad? and most horsepower? i know these are to different things. doesnt have to be totally corrected no one in my school would even know, even if you can give an estimate that would be good thanks
I did a search and couldnt find anything

fastest stock quad was the banshee for many years, but has been overtaken by the newer ds650's

banshees no doubt, there is a 125 hp dune banshee in dirtwheels, never heard of a modded ds having that much

yea the banshee by far all modded to bumshoe. but stock for stock i think the yfz450 smokes them all now

ya i knew the Banshee was the best but just didnt know how much better
But Why is the able to be modded so much?

it is so easy to obtain that amount of horse power

- twin cylinder
- two stroke
- liquid cooled (not sure if that has anything to do with it haha)


and thats pretty much it

liquid cooling has alot to do with horse power gains, it makes the motor modifications respond that much better. for example a 400ex takes a good few grand to get any kind of significant horsepower gains cause its air cooled and those motor dont respond as well as liquid cooled motors

I don't think that is necessarily the bottom line to it. I think it is mostly the ability of the liquid cooled motor to run significantly cooler than a non-liquidcooled motor because the motor is kept cooler, allowing it to make more power. The cooler the bike, the less Hp is robbed, and the more it produces.

I don't think its the actual design of the air-cooled motor that would limit the bike or make it less responsive, it's only its lack of cooling ability. If you could cool the bike efficiently without liquid cooling using some other method or "undiscovered" technique then it would not be limited because of its non liquid cooling...

Just thought of a summary of what I want to say; it doesn't matter how the bike is cooled, but the cooler it is the more hp can be made.

seen a 200hp shee, 700cc .......not sure if it was a banshee engine though, cant remember

YFZ probably is the leader now though, two strokes are history

310rduner what do you think iwas talkin about im not a dumbarse. i didnt think i had to fully explain that a liquid cooled motor runs cooler than an air cooled motor. i figured that was known.:huh :huh

Ryan... what is the project in school u r doing? i did a project aobut quads when i was a freshmen and i got 100 on it bc my teacher didnt know **** bout quads so he had to give me an A bc he had no clue what i was tlaking about... so basicly just do what you can like sayy all this stuff about the bansee and you can even make **** up jsut make ur teacher think u know what your talking bout (not that you dont know what your talking bout);)

Fastest modded quad is probably the banshee, go to glamis this weekend and see for yourself why their dubbed the king of the dunes. now if you want handling through the dunes thats a different story, whats the big deal with fastest anyways.
