For several years now I have wanted to develop an event that would be fun for quad riders as well as benefit the needy. I was wondering how many people would be interested in assisting myself develop this program.

My idea is to pick a specific charity like the Muscular Dis. Foundation or some other charity that helps people with disabilities. We would pick a specific location and do something like a marathon ride. Each rider or team would go out and collect sponsor or donation money for each lap or mile or maybee hour they would ride. Maybee something like collecting $1.00 per mile or something simular. The format would be ride for 12 hours or as long as your team or you can. We could give awards to those who collect the most money and ride the most miles in a certain time frame.

I am on the board at a local 800 acre riding park here in Illinois that host some MSWS races as well as AMA national hare scrambles that would make a great site, or we could use another area also, just a thought. Any place will work.

I feel that us quad riders and dirt bikers always seem to get a bad rap and we should be pro-active in the community to show that we are responsible people who care about others. And to my knowledge the only other event like this is the march of dimes race in MO and it usually raises around 25g's. I have participated in this event and it is a blast and you get to do something good for others.

I would love for us to develop this and create another fun event that also helps those who truly need it.

Thanks for you time!:)

Yep buck the March of Dimes race is a BLAST! But i think we could probably get more people to participate if we had like a poker run or a ATV rodeo. The ride would be good too....but as you and i both know alot more people have utility quads...or it could be a 2 day event the ride on Saturday and the poker run and rodeo on sunday. And as far as the charity goes i think a local charity would get more people involved.

Sound good! I am open for any ideas. I am do not know much about poker runs but sound cool. Even if we use the other Idea we could have utility classes as well. We could almost divide it in two areas in our park 400 acres for those who would like a race type situation and the other 400 acres for those who would like the poker run idea.

I really dont care what we do I just want do do something positive!

Thanks for the imput Bro.

Due to the distance, I doubt I would make it. But I would much rather don't to a spefic individual or a smaller group.

I'm just tired of hearing charities that waste money due to mismanagement.:(

We are open to ideas of locations. We are also open to ideas of what charity. I know St. Judes is a wonderful hospital for children under 18 with orthopedic and burn disabilities, they offer free treatment and could use some donations.

Just thinking out loud. All ideas are appreciated!:)

The UtahATV association does a "Ride for Life". They ride 100 miles from Tooele ut to Wendover NV. Everyone gets sponsors, and all the money goes to Muscular Distrophy. It get alot of riders because Wendover is a gambling town, so everyone stays the night at the casino and parties! This year will be my first.
Your idea sounds cool, let us know!

The long distance ride sound cool, but we would be limited to one property location here in Illinois. I would like to have the event in the sping. I like the idea of the poker run. I am curious about how we would insure a night time event. I also would think that with what ILGNCC is talking about would require that we check I.D.

Keep the ideas coming. Thanks.

I am a little shocked that no one else is interested in this idea. As far as sponsors It would be great publicity to them and I know this web site is full of influential people in the off road industry. And as riders this could be a super fun event and could raise a lot of money.

My idea is not to keep 1 penny from this and donate 100% to the appropiate association.

this does sound like a good idea, i am sure that our more professional members like LS@GThunder, Mickey Dunlap (four stroke tech) and fibe industries, and the quadshop would love to help.

the habitat is a GREAT idea, not only to we ride, but actually get to meet the people we are helping.

habitat also has strict rules for families that qualify, they have to help so many hours on someone elses house, have a job and steady income (income is very low, but must be steady) i like these rules b/c it shows that you are giving a hand up, not a handout. these are a blast to build also.

I know this might sound corny, but what about doing something for wildlife. I think concentrating on groups that dont like ATv's or offroaders might be a good PR for everyone. Plus we get to help the enviroment at the same time.

I am not a tree hugger, but do feel we all owe the enviroment something in return.
