300ex problems

my 300ex has been getting worse and worse everytime i go to start it i have to grind on the starter for like 3 to 4 min before it starts and i was wondering what it could be i just put a new carb on it because my old one the idler peice on the inside of the carb broke and i had to buy a new one ever since i put this new carb on it hasnt started right

Check and make sure the jets are right. The first thing I would do is get a new plug. Are you using the choke? Maybe you need to.

Sometimes the valve adjustment will tighten and make it hard to start until it warms up. You might check that.
