It is worth around $1,000 if you are lucky. And just an FYI - there is no way that bike would hit a verified 160mph, let alone 200mph. Good luck selling :)

I disagree with "there is no way that bike would hit a verified 160mph". I had a 1990 Katana back in 1992 that was jetted and had a Yoshi. Pipe and I was able to get it up to 160mph with throttle left and it wasn't redlined yet. I am not saying that it would do 200. It may have taken a little longer to get there than the GSXR's because of the weight, but it would do it.

For what it is worth I think that you should be able to get $1,500 for the bike to the right buyer. If it is in excellent shape and has been maintained. It could be good cheap transportaion for someone who soesn't want to spend $5,000 on a used crotch rocket. A motorcycle is like a car, if it is maintained it should easily exceed 100,000, but seldom seen on a motorcycle. 33,000 miles for that year is not much at all.

I won't reply to this thread anymore because this guy wants to sell his bike but I will say that a bike's speedo has a large margin of error and when it says you are going 160 you are probably right at 140. Stick a GPS on there and show me a reading. And as far as it hitting 200mph stock - it won't happen, there are only two bikes that would hit 200mph stock and I own one (Hayabusa), the other is the ZX12r.

These Katanas have rock solid powerplants - 33,000 miles is alot but nothing a well maintained Katana can't handle, nor that high for its age. I've seen Katanas with 75,000+ miles on them that run like a dream. This bike has alot of miles left on it - for a good price it would be hard to pass up :)

i had one of those katanas and the speedo said i was going 155
and the camero beside said his car was going 130
so when a f3 stock that truley runs in the high 150 to low 160s
will eat a katana all day,i am thinking along the 130 to 140 margin
they were good in the day but you have to admit are turds on the top end.but on the other hand perfect starter bikes, they are comfortable and afordable sort of like a 300ex

I have an '01 katana with Pipe, K&N and jetted, it will not run that high...maybe if you had ten miles it might get 165, nice beginners bike, but definitely not a real fast machine

I had a 91 Katana 750...Katanas are excellent beginner bikes for sure...definitely something you can ride all day. Id say $800-$1000 is a good price depending on condition and area.
As far as 200 MPH?... ..............I edited my post just to simply say......Not a chance in hell 180mph?? LMFAO!!

1990 Katana 600 ...

veddersbetter: where did you get that HP # from, is it the same for a new model K600?

$1,500 max for the bike if it's in excellent condition. It will appeal to newbies that are looking to get on two wheels asap.
No Katana 600 will push 160mph. I've owned a '98 750 and it will top at about 150 speedo indicated. My RC51 will only do an indicated 180 with mods and 130 rwhp.
