OK I installed a 165mj and a 42 pilot. The fuel screw is 2 3/4 turns out. I went to start it today and it wouldn't. I tried Fuel On and Reserve....nothing. I tried choke on /off........nothing. I did this for about 5 min or so. It acted like it was gonna start twice, but didn't. I then drain the bowl, And tried again. It once again did a real quick starting, but didn't start. Its aout 70 degrees or so.
My question is, is it too rich or lean? Are the floats stuck? Please help!

It's cranking but just not firing?

Only your pilot jet is going to affect your starting ability. Check your plug, I bet it's black.

I think that it might be too rich. Should I go down to a 40 pilot, or turn the air-fuel screw in ? What are they affects of a stuck float?

it might not be this but check your kill switch it might be just of the line enough were it won't start. thats what your problem sounds like.

Nope, it has the stock box. Ill put in a new plug and 40 pilot with 2 1/2 turns out on the fuel screw and see how that goes.

Any other ideas?

in 20 degree weather, a 42 pilot with 3 turns out on the fuel skrew is not too rich in my opinion. i would change the plug. also, make sure you don't flood it trying to start it. i find it best to turn the fuel on pump the throttle a couple times and then just hit the start button without giving it any gas. mine usually starts best with the choke on but many others say theirs starts best with it off.

I took out the plug and it was really black. Smells alot like gas. Im going to get a new plug.

Should i put in a 40 pilot with 2 1/2 turns, or keep the 42 in with 2 turns out?

what do u guys reccomend.

That's the jetting I'm running, and I have an 11:1 416 kit with a WB slip on w/18 discs, modded header, modded airbox, K&N filter, stage 1 HotCam, and choke removed. I'd say you're rich all the way around. My advice? Read the DJ directions, be realistic about the mods you have, and install what they recommend according to your actual mods and elevation. Stage two doesn't mean "faster than stage 1" unless you have the mods to make it necessary. Good luck. Oh yeah, and go with the 40 pilot until you get some motor work done.
