(Help) 400ex header question

Hello, Can someone explain how to "properly" install a new stock header to a 400ex. I put it on and now have a small leak at the head exhaust port...I have loosend it and tried to move it around and re-tighten but still have a leak..I'm a fairly big guy so I know the bolts are tight, just worried about breaking off a stud..Thanks for any info. i think theres a gasket thats sappost to go there. if its ripped or not even there its gunna leak

Yep, there should be a copper gasket for each pipe. They look kinda like an o-ring but made of copper. You can get them at Service Honda but they have an $8 minimum shipping charge.:rolleyes:

C&D Racing should have them or be able to get them for a similar price but less shipping.

Yeah check your gaskets.

make sure when you are tightening your head pipe you tighten them both together dont jsut tighten one then the other take your time and get one snug then the other and work your way up from that. Dont over tighten becuase you can bend or break those studs pretty easy
