Looking forward to racing the quad race at Tomahawk. I've raced there twice this year and practiced twice, but always on my cr250. The last race there was the same weekend as the Ironman GNCC. I heard they didn't run alot of the MX track. Anyone know why? One of the local quad MX riders said they were going to start decibel readings because the 4-strokes were getting so loud. Any updates on that? Just in case I have my thumper ready for the 17th I'd like to make sure.

You only run HS Andy?

I run MX when there's nothing else going on and it's a nice track. I really like Budd's because you can run MX and HS on the same day. I pulled it off at the MD States a couple weeks ago. You get: MX practice; 2 MX motos; HS parade lap; HS race. Now that I'm not riding a bike I have to try and get more seat time on race day.

first time i ever saw andy race was at the now closed antietam track. he rode a bike and placed well, only to climb on a quad and win the afternoon race. hell of a good rider and a great guy. good luck this weekend andy:cool:

Hey 12gofast just wondering how you found out that the Nov 16th HS was a D-7 points race. Ive been trying to find a schedule for the 2004 points races but can't find anything on the D-7 website.

Thanks for the props pappy. I'm gonna try and mix it up with the D6 boys as much as possible.
YLW400- Yeah, that was me. The HS race ended just in time to get to the staging for the second moto. I stopped at the trailer and grabbed a fresh set of goggles and a rag so I could wipe off my number plates. That was a sweet track that day, wasn't it? I was standing in back of the signup building before practice started and the track looked sooo good I couldn't wait to tear the ***** out of it!

Andy, we didn't use the MX track for the last harescramble because we were doing a lot of reconstruction and maintanence to the back of the MX track. We also put a concrete drain through the large tabletop and took the stepup out and refaced the large tabletop. The back section of the MX track has been opened up significantly.

We also had to cut out the back section of the HS track due to wetness.

We will probably take out quite a bit of the west side of the harescramble track due to the difficulty and lack of turnout....sucks cause I love it and was so proud of our layout! So if anyone wants to lend a helping hand I will probably be doing some trail cutting Sunday.

We will most likely be using the whole MX track and a lot of open trails for the harescramble.

We need to get together Andy...we have met in passing. It would be nice to ride with you this off season so I can get a little faster for GNCC next year.
I will be on a KX250 #371 over at Tomahawk...spending more time on the bike here lately.

Hey 12gofast..has there been any talk of knocking down any trees on the MX track for the spectators sake? It just kinda stinks for the spectators paying 5-10 dollars when they only get to see about a 30 second flash of the riders....We are always in and out of the woods...This is something that people have brought p to me that came to watch me race there...maybe something you all would think about? Thanks, J.C.

12gofast- I'll see you at the race on the 16th. What class do you race on the bike? I think I'll be on a wr250 in the vet class.

12gofast
10-29-2003, 10:13 AM
I am going to try and pull 1 of your tricks and run the vet class on the bike and vet class on the quad. Trying to pound myself back into shape.
I will hopefully be on Randy Wolfords Lonestar 250R...kind of scary since I have to replace anything I break and that thing has a lot of high dollar sh-t on it.

I guess you could say that. Some of the jumps have been reworked also....you shouldn't have a problem clearing the 100' tabletop now!

My 400 EX is still for sale if you know anyone looking...maybe your brother.

YLW400
10-29-2003, 10:44 AM
Oh, it's only 100' now??!! lmao...Not me! Does it got a nice lip on it now?

I will say something to him again, I am heading back to pick him up this weekend and go the cabin..

12gofast
10-29-2003, 10:50 AM
Yea we took the step up out of it and made the takeoff higher....we are going to look at it this weekend and decide whether or not to put the step up back in....if we do we will just add it on top and make it longer and taller.

The small tabletop has also been modified to make it easier to clear.

I couldn't make it yesterday, but I heard it was a good day of racing!!!

Too bad you didn't make it...we had a great turnout of quads.

The A class was haulin....jumping EVERYTHING!!!

Hopefully we can keep building the quad classes in District 7.

Tomahawk has 4 quad points races for 04.

YLW400

12gofast...Just wanted to let you know I thought the track was the best I have saw it the three times I have been there. I liked how you rounded the third double in the woods so we were able to jump. Also, excellent job running through the moto's. It was nice to out of there early.

11-10-2003, 08:34 PM
Yeah the track was pretty nice. It was my first mx race and I got my ***** handed to me in the c class, so I think I'll stick to the woods.

Anybody planning on racing the HS on Nov. 16th?

YLW400
11-11-2003, 06:20 AM
Cletus, don't let that deter you from racing MX anymore...

cletusEX
11-11-2003, 07:21 AM
Yeah I know. I still had a awesome time and probably will hit a few more D-7 mx races when I don't have a HS race.

Hey Cletus, there is a MX race at Budds on 11/23...you outta come on out...

cletusEX
11-11-2003, 04:02 PM
Once a year at budds they have a blue-gray harescramble that incorporates the mx track, the dirt oval, and the woods course. I raced it last year and had a blast out on the mx track, so depending on the HS schedule I might come down and give mx another try.

YLW400
11-12-2003, 06:14 AM
Cool, I'll be there next Sunday running MX C class, if you get bored, come on out!

12gofast
11-12-2003, 11:08 PM
There is nothing wrong with a woods racer venturing out to the MX track....sometimes it is a little shocking to the MX racers on the 4th lap when that woods racer comes smokin by them!

just wondering how the turn out was at Tomahawk. I decided to go to Foot of Mountain. Took first in 4 stroke "B"(woohoo). The last time they had the H.S. at Tomahawk there was only about 10 quads in the whole field. Hope the turn out was better this time. Did you use the MX track?

12gofast
11-17-2003, 07:59 AM
Turnout was better this time....

Traci Cecco, Rob Hertz, Chris Borich, and Andy Lagzdins all showed up.

Chris didnt race but Joe (Chris' dad) did.....all of them were flying and seemed to like the track. It was a good day, hopefully they will come back.

Great track! I heard a rumor that the District 7 Rep did not like the track and claimed that it was too difficult - is this guy an ex road racer? Lap times to track length ratio was right on par with the GNCC races so I am not too sure how it could be that difficult for some??? I think Tomahawk has a great track and you should keep it the way it is - don't make it any easier like the Budds Creek Harescramble Highway - were is the challenge?

If anyone has not visited the Tomahawk facility for Harescrambles or MX - YOU should! We did not ride much of the MX course - but I did get a chance to walk much of it and it looks awesome.

Check it out!

Yeah I thought the course was layed out awesome. Tomahawk is one of my favorite D-7 tracks and the mx track is pretty kick ***** also.

Are you all talking about the D-7 bike rep because the quad rep is a woman and she was not there yesterday.

YLW400
11-17-2003, 10:45 AM
Actually I don't know who that would be, MX has a different quad rep the Harescrambles....Cletus....this weekend!! Budds MX!!!

will there be results posted on the new Tomahawk website?
Cletus, congrats on the 4th place district 7.....how did you guys do yesterday? We were parked behind you guys last Tomahawk race. I loved that track last time we went in October. The left side was really tight with the off cambered, rocky hills and the other side was a little more open and fast. Now that's a harescramble! We went to Foot of Mountain yesterday and it was a nice Harescramble course also. Lots of muddy ruts, hills and ROCKS!!! I drug my skid plate around for most of the race. It sounded like a train wreck happening over and over again. It helped the slower ones hear me a comin'. My ears are still ringing.
I like 465 strokers comment about the Budds Creek H.S. highway....how true.

400exvet, yeah that's my brother Dan who got 4th place I ended up with 7th for the year. Yesterday was a good time. I got 5th, my brother finished 3rd and the other guy Brian(with the bad knee) broke his chain on the 2nd lap. I rolled my bike as soon as we got into the woods on the 1st lap and played catch up the whole race. I sometimes enjoy chasing people down more than leading. They changed the track a little since you where there but it was a great course.

YLW400 yeah i'll most likely be at Budds, don't know if i'm gonna race mx or the "hs"

YLW400
11-18-2003, 06:18 AM
You can run them both Cletus!! lol I've seen guys do it..
