Sunday I entered my first MX. I was worried that I wouldn't have the stamina to last 4 laps, beings that the track was 1.1 miles long. But alas I finished with a 2-3 in the open beginner class. Only damage that was done to my bike was I bent my BRAND NEW REAR DOUGLAS RIM!! But I was still happy with the results. Time to prep for next year!

You better get some race rings in your rear rims or they'll be square 3 races into next season...:eek2:

I"ve had to beat out 1 flat spot on my fronts. If you run 12 psi in them your worries will go away.. I'm still running standard 190 douglas rims up front and have been for 3 years and they are in perfect shape. More air means a little rougher ride but it beats buying $50 rims every other race..:eek2:

OMF makes rings that can be welded into 190 rims. Several places carry them,,you'll need 4 total for the back rims..

i met a guy at the track this weekend and the rings didnt work for him..he still bent them. I would reccomend just buying beadlocks....they will last you a whole season...

So, RIco, you think the rings would work alright or would you recommend just buying beadlocks. I would much rather buy the rings seeing as I just bought the wheels 3 weeks ago.

Does anyone have any pictures of this track. I have never been there and would like to know what it is like, expecially the last step down they talk about.

I've never flatened mine and i've cased a jump that bent my axle, subframe, and footpeg.

Roostin dale mentioned his buddy that bent a rim with rings. Most riders think 4 psi in there tires is good because of better traction. that is true, they also destroy rims and can't understand why..

The rings will work just fine for you. I run 8 psi Minimum in my rear MX tires. And yeah ugly motha can make you rims that have your race number in them, your name, etc,

Beadlocks are nice but if you just bought these rims the rings will work just fine..
