For the next year I am going to race AMA and possibly the mega series. I have a Honda CRF450 engine in a Viper frame. I want everyones opinion on which would be a better practice/backup bike?
I am looking for reliablity
Best rear linkage and rear suspension
Im not worried about the front because it will be replaced
And power characteristics of the motor

-Everyone give their opinion.

If a thread like this is posted then oh well

How could anybody have a opinion, nobody has ridden a new honda yet. Calm down, take a deep breath and wait for it to come out;)

i cant decide on one or the other so im waiting a year, you got a good quad right now, see how things go over the season and youll know which one is the best

the yamaha has some problems with steering as well, bump steer is problem. A racer here races a yfz450 set up for mx, and he says it handles not as good as honda. Honda's steering has always been spot on, the 400ex handels amazing and by the looks of it they are pretty close.

I rent out Raptors and they handle rentals just fine. THe first year had gear problems, that has since been fixed. You can't base reliability off of one quad for one year.

Wait and see, we'll know in a couple months.

Jordan, let me know, and next time we go riding I'll let you try out the YFZ (when it's all set up, it sucks on the track right now). I personally would get a YFZ for a backup bike, but then again, the Honda would be good for you because it would handle almost exactly like your CRF.
