Which kind of chain and what size?

Hey guys, I am looking for a nice chain, with master link, that not only looks and stays nice but does the job!

I really like the looks and sound of the D.I.D ERT chain, but are there certain ones for quads?

what size is the chain on a stock 300ex? thanks a lot

look on ebay...id highly suggest an o-ring chain or an x-ring..they last the longest & whatnot..i got mine on ebay & its holding up great...some generic brand.. :rolleyes:

I like DID chains, and the ERT is a good chain. I prefer non o-ring chains. They work very well if you take care of them. :)

i think it is a 86 link, size 520

why you like the non o-ring chains? do they just provide less friction in turn giving a little more power??

I picked up a o-ring chain and sprockets for $75.00 to my door.

Holding up fine so far. I blew $260 2 years ago on a Sidewinder stainless set up that was suposed to be indestructable. The heaviest peice of crap I ever bought. Went through a front sprocket in a half season. I will never waste my money on that stuff again.

Just make sure its a o-ring and you will be fine.

Your chain is a 520 nt sure about the links

I trashed a DID non o ring chain in less than 2 months of racing and riding. I lubed it every ride and adjusted it correctly every time. Non o-ring chains are the biggest waste of metal I've ever seen!

its holding up fine

I use lithium grease spray and its fine no sign of ware or anything like that its holding up great for me

iv has it for about a month so far

86 links, 520 chain and just but a renthal chain for around 25 bucks or something i think it was. Worked great on my 300ex.

They do have less friction. I mostly like them because of the price and simplicity. Besides, once an o-ring chain gets a little dried out it creates a lot of friction. I know that almost nobody will agree with me, and that's fine; I don't like certain products just because others do. :)

I would like to add that I do like the X-ring chains. They are of a better design. They have less friction and a higher tensile strength. Guess I have just seen too many stiff, dried out o-rings over the years to be that crazy about them.

what is the differnce between D.I.D's x ring chain and atv x-ring chain? I am prob going to get the atv x-ring chain, its 49.99

They use thicker plates and pins for added strength. :)

when you buy the chain does it come with master link?



and say if I bought the atv x-ring chain, is there a special chain lude I must use? or just use regualr o-ring stuff like belray of PJ1, thanks for the help

Usually, you will get a master link with a new chain, but some companies might not throw one in for you.

They make o-ring specific lubes, but you are really just keeping the o-rings conditioned. The lube isn't going to get to the pins where it really matters, but it will help the chain last longer. I use Belray lube on my x-ring and race chains.
