Can i run pumped gas with 11:1 compression or do i have to go with 10:3.1? i am building my 440ex and i still need to buy a headder pipe for my exhast i have a Yoshimura exhast but i am going to buy a CT full system. and is a stage 2 hot cam the way to go?

ya u can run 93 octane on 11:1...and i think stage 2 is deffinantly the way to go :D

10.8:1 compression is the highest you can go and run pump gas (93 octane). Yes you can run 11:1 on pump but it's not going to run as strong as it should.

My 416 with JE 11:1 knocks like "Kids at the front door on Halloween". I have to run a mix of pump and VP C12 to get it to stop knocking when under a load.

I don't think i've ever read on here someone state their 11:1 piston runs OK on pump gas. Most say a mix or octane booster is needed.

Mine seemed to run good on a mix of 2 gal C-12 to 3 gal 91. I was curious if anyone has used the TRICK octane booster? I know in general boosters are not good for the valves, but I would think TRICK would know a thing or two about making a booster that would NOT hurt the valves or leave deposits??

anyone??

In my opinion, Rico is right. Pump gas will be no good on the 11:1, even with the bigger cam. It will detonate, maybe not all the time, but when its loaded.... also in my opinion is what is great about the 440. Run it a gear higher and it will "tractor" its way out of the turn or what not. Go with the lower compression unless you plan to run (or hassle with) some race gas.

Alot depends on altitude. If you are at or lower than sea level you should be fine. My 440 kit was 11.5:1, but we run 2 head gaskets so I assume it is at about 10.75:1. It runs find on 91 pump gas, but my father insists on running octane booster in it most of the time. I do not recommend running octane booster because it really craps the engine up with deposits.

Unless it is setup properly you won't truly be 11:1, Read Ask Mickey Dunlap in the Tech forum. If you do those mods you will want to run a 50/50 mix to keeo it cool anyways.
