so she rides a 300ex, i have a Z.
whenever i ride with my (bikeless)buddy one of us(i'm 29/he's 34) is on the 300, it's a fine/fun machine but no match for the(near stock) Z. the first thing i want to do to it is drop a tooth on the front sprocket. to try and make it alittle quicker.

so the question is, is there enough takeup in the swingarm to make up for one less tooth, or do i need to remove a link from the chain?

if its a new chain, you should be ok, if the chain is older and stretched a little, you may want to buy a new one

I might be wrong but so far everyone I talked says to go up one for the top end speed from 13 to 14. 1st gear is short why go smaller.

I bought a new chain and sprocket for our 300 and tried to go one tooth up on the front sprocket, due to the LOW first gear... no dice with the new chain. It was either too short or too long. Maybe now that it has some stretched some.... :)
