just my personal preference bro :) no offense intended, hehe.

if you are looking at new '04s, you can't get the Cheby in a V-8.

i'd say it depends on how much room ya got, how much powah ya want, how much cab room ya want, and how much $$$ you wanna spend on gas.

me = big truck with a V-8. preferably a Dodge, preferably a Hemi :D

If i had the cash i would have a fullsize chevy crew cab Diesel 4x4 but i don't. I got the 4.3 in my Sonoma and get 18-20mpg around town with my foot buried all in it. For a small truck they are decent.

Greg Z,

i think the S-10 would be the most utilitarian vehicle for what you want to do.

you can save ~$2K if you went with a Toyota. dunno how ya care about rice trucks though.

i used to have a beat up "84" S10 with 140K miles on it. drove it from NC to PA and back a few times. Used it for hauling the quad this, that and the other. I loved it. I loved it soo much that when I sold it to get a full size truck I ended up with another S10. This time with a 350 in it :)

Personally, I would get a Toyota, S10, or a Mazda B2200 or something small. The more money you save in gas, insurance, truck payments, the more parts you can buy for your quad. :)

only reason i Want a S10 is because its cheap and it looks good:devil:

is there any trucks that are cheaper that are just as good? (used)

im going cheap because my parents wont buy me a care and wont pay for insurence :(

the only thing i dont like about my 2000s-10 is that i have to lift the front end over the wheelwells. it has plenty of power, 4.3 v6. get gr8 milage, 19-21, and most of all 4X4.

I have a S-10 EX-cab with the 4.3 I was looking for a truck to do the same things your looking for. The S-10 turned out to be a perfect choice.....

I miss my s-10, It was a great little truck, easy to drive, decent miledge, decent power. If you do get one, make sure it has a v6.

I liked my s-10 while I had it, but i pretty much beat it to death. Decent power, good milage, no complaints with the power really. My EX with +3 arms and ZPS suspension never fit in the back of it without laying a set of wheels over the side of the bed. And my friends all hated how small the back was. I thought it was a decent truck, but now that I have a Ram, i'm never going small again.

i think they are great trucks, i am on my third now. 2 92's and now an 01 xtreme. do not get a four cylinder, you will hate it, also, try to find an x-cab, they are great and ride smoother than a standard cab. mileage is good, power is great, and if you find one with the zq8 suspension like mine, they handle like a dream. chevy says not to tow with a zq8 eqipped truck, but thats just bs, i haul stuff all the time with mine, no problems.

sounds like for what you want, you would be wasting your money on a full size. if you do have a really wide uad, jus buy an s-10 and a trailer and you would still be out less money than buying a big truck

Greg, I got a 99 S-10. It is the four banger model. I have done a few mods to it. I only got the 4 cyl, 2wd because I like pouring $ into my quad and I live on my own so I don't have tons of $ hanging around, lol!

I do a lot of running around and I think it gets pretty good mileage. I have almost 60,000 miles and I just did the front brakes....I believe I changed the originals. It runs fine, I haul my quad (it barely fits but does...be careful if you have big a-arms, extended axle, or offset rims, it may be too much) all the time everywhere.

Minuses:grr:

I wish I had the 4.3 for a little more umph. I wish I had 4wd so I wouldn't have to worry sometimes about getting out of some holes. I wish I had exteded cab for some more room.

Other then that, I love my little Chevy! I race my quad and that's what I care about most, the truck just gets me there!:D

the dodge hemi is a big fooking painsy...my mom has one and says its fast...yea right!! it doesnt acclerate worth a flip, and doesnt have any power until its in about the 4500 RPM range...the new F150 is much more powerful..i kno..my mom test drove one yesterday to see if it was more powerful than the hemi..and she wouldnt admit that her hemi is weak

S-10's are nice, but there the dam Civic of the truck world....

If i were you, I'd get the F150,or a Ranger... Maybe a Ranger Edge, there a great truck......If you get a ranger try to get it w/ a 4.0 and manual, best package around, and has some balls....

Also you could consider a Dakota, there a lil bigger than the S10's and rangers, but not as big as the Full-Size's...
