Harlen, Bryan has been calling me giving me updates too (Cause he wouldn't let me GO!!!!) Jeff got a bad start and after his five laps, he had a flat, so Bryan went out and moved 'em up to ninth. Nathan was running when he called. They moved back to eleventh. Then back to tenth. They are running hard. Intermission is about to be on. I will post what he tells me is going on with Team Quadshop.

Colby@C&DRacing
10-25-2003, 02:31 PM
It is 3:18 central intermission, There was to be a freestyle show but was postponed due to the wind, it will be tonight at 7:00 tonight and at that time they will give away the YFZ450.
Halen should have pics up soon we sent him a bunch.

The racing has been very competitive, the lay out of the track is the best that we have seen and been too.

GT Thunder is back up in 7th place in the pro class and has recorded the fastest lap time with 10.25 (darn axles anyway)

So far Walsh thru JPMX have taken 33 laps :eek2:

And team Raushcreek is still in the lead in the utility class..

This looks like 4Play Racing.com's Cannondale! The where leading the A Class earlier, but it seems they must have run into problems because they are back to 7th Place and lap down from the leaders Troy Racing.

This is great! Is there any way we can do this for the GNCC races next year? I would be interested in sponsoring something like this if you can put it together Harlen.

Admin
10-25-2003, 04:42 PM
Team Hiper Wheels have had to deal with several problems today that have kept them out of the lead spot. Both of their footpegs on the YFZ have broke off and have had to be Re-installed. Also, they had there front bumper come loose.

It is amazing the amount of pounding the Pros put on their quads in a race like this! 12 Hours of fast racing can take it toll on a quad. I know that after a 2 hour GNCC their is normally something that needs to be fixed, so more problems will come up for all the teams through the last six hours of the race. Night fall is quickly coming, and the Temps are only in the 40's. The standings could really change in the last 6 hours with fatigue on the Quads and Racers set in, so stayed Tuned!

As the Day turned to Night, more and more quads are starting to be equiped with Headlights. Some races have raced all day with them, and others have choosen the wait till dark to install them. The time involved with the Installation could really have an affect on racing positions.

Just got off the phone with Jeff. Says Hi to everyone, freezing their butts off.

Traci broke a spindle in the woods section and they are back up and running.

I guess the dust is really bad, worse than Milfield last year.

Jeff is running tire balls up front. The yzf raffle is in about ten minutes after the free style.

Hey everyone,

Mike called me with updates throughout the day yesterday as well... he said the track was really cool. It was pretty much wide-open (like a stock car racing track - that's how he compares it since he'll be racing stock cars next year). He said that it was pretty much wide open, but the woods were a little tricky since the bike was much wider than a GNCC bike is set up. They really had to take their time in the woods unlike at the GNCC's. They did have some problems during the race... had to re-drill 3 footpegs, fender bracket broke off the frame, + routine maintenance (lube/tighten chain, change air filter, etc)... but they came through & won!

They each rode a gas tank at a time & then the next team member raced. Borich started the race (guess Mike & Matt wanted him to be the one to "run" to the bike since he's the youngest :)

Mike called from the podium & yelled "YEAH BABY" to let me know they won.

Now, for the long ride home... Mike won't be home until about 11pm tonight! By the time the left the track it was 1am CST, they stopped for a couple hours to sleep & then continued around 8am somewhere in IL.

That's all for now.

We are 4-playracing.com (Jay Schwerman, Guy Sutton, and Chad Weinen) we led most of the race the first session but the blew out a right front hub bearing. We got it changed and then got up to eighth by the end of the first session a lap down from the leaders. We worked all the way up to first by the middle of the second session running the fastest lap times in our class and then had steering stem problems 2 times. With all these problems and losing over an hour total we are happy with eighth overall but oh well we'll be ready next year. Congrats to Troy Racing on the A class win they ran great and didn't have any failures or breaks, wish we could say the same!

We did have a blast !!!

Also are little rascals team dominated the utility class all day long !! was also riddled with problems on the second half

Team Girth- (B class-Stock KFX 400) 10th - Well....... they bent about 3-4 stock tie rods
Bartlett Racing- (A-class- Z400) 11th - broken spindle, the same lap Alba Action girls broke there's, & wiring problems @ nite took it's toll on 3 batteries.
A BIG THANKS to everyone there, working, cheering, & helping each other out!!!

Well Thats All Folks! I am glad to hear all the positive comments about the race coverage and I am glad that I was able to keep everyone informed that couldn't be there. I have heard nothing but great things about the race! I think ATV Scene did a great job at putting on this race! It was a lot better organized this year, and I expect it to be even better next year. Hopefully, next year, I will be able to be keeping everyone informed from the race!

Again, I thank C&D Racing, GT Thunder, The Quad Shop, and Team Hiper Wheels, and "Fred" for their assistance in making this all possible for EXriders.com:D

hey harlen....I just wanted to inform you that I just joined this site because of the spectacular race coverage and pics. Its nice to see yamaha in the top spots in the quad races and it will be very interesting to see honda is able to give them a run for their money, which I'd enjoy seeing. Unforturnately :( I have never owned a honda but have ridden an ex and they are fairly impressive. But I enjoy this site because of the Broad based quad coverage instead of the quad bashing in some of the more brand specific sites....KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK! And also the respective members that you have gathered....

Well, in the best case senario, my father will end up gettin the new r in a few years and we'd have a nice pair of quads, but that isn't likely to happen and he's prolly gonna stick to the warrior for a bit. Anyways, thanks for the warm welcome. And hopefully I will be making my fair share of vid's and pic's as soon as I open my check book(which is currently empty due to the quad) and start modding my machine. And once I get a lil more experience on my yfz(only 5 hours of seat time so far :( ) maybe start some Local Pennsylvania racing....

Wow, great race coverage!

Thanks for the support - we were running well until about 3 laps before the break - our FCR lost the needle retainer bolt (my fault, practically the only thing I didn't loctite during our prep work) and caused serious jetting issues and throttle sticking as it bounced around in the top of the carb and tangled with the slide linkage.

Next, we lost a lap at the break coming in just after the cutoff due to the carb problems & an extra pit slowing our pace.

At the restart I jumped on the quad, and waited for the field to leave - then worked on the carb for a few minutes (at this point, still didn't know what the problem was).

Rode another lap with the throttle sticking - pulled in the pits. Was going to replace the carb, but found the real problem - lost 10 minutes fixing it.

After that the quad went back to running well, but I was fatigued from the whole process and wasn't able to turn laps I was happy with. We battled for 1st, then 2nd, then 3rd before finally getting back on track.

When darkness fell our top secret ;) headlight system kicked butt and allowed us to really kick up the pace - we made 10 overall positions in the dark and ended up 15th overall (during the daylight we were running anywhere from 20th to 25th).

Congrats to all race teams that finished - finishing itself was a huge accomplishment!

Team Emu - you guys had a great battle going for 2nd / 3rd and made up a lot of time in the last hour.

PS - finally, someone got a pic of me on the quad! (I'm in the gray Moose jacket and red/gray helmet). All the pics I've seen except for one posted here are my other two riders --- including the Ft Dodge, IA Sunday Messenger front page spread with a pic of our quad!!!

Thanks again for the great race coverage and the support! I'd also like to thank Lazarus Sommers at GT Thunder for all his help.

I would like to thank everyone that did show up this year and you need to start making plans for next year. As you can see it is not like any racing that you are used to. The 1st year we had 52 teams. This year it was 68 teams and what will it be next year? There is a limit of 120 or so teams because of the size of the track. The were teams from Calif, Texas, Maryland just to name a few places.
The trick or treating in the pits on Friday night was neat also with the local kids from town getting to walk the pits and get candle from the riders. Team JPMX had the best display that night.
This was only our 2nd year for this year and we are still finding out thinks to make it better.

Hertz Racing had problems in the AM leaking antifreeze fixed it. Came back in later on for pivot bolt nut backed off raplaced bolt and rear sprocket. 29th overall and last in class. 2nd half no problems worked our way up to 9th in class and 14th overall. We finished and now we know what and what not to do.
