Nice pictures Fred. I wish I would have known you were there it would have been nice to put a face with the name.
Welcome to the site YFZinJay..

I would agree it would be nice to have this kind of coverage for other events so those that don't get to go don't get left out.

When darkness fell our top secret ;) headlight system kicked butt and allowed us to really kick up the pace - we made 10 overall positions in the dark and ended up 15th overall (during the daylight we were running anywhere from 20th to 25th).

Figures the mad scietist comes up with a crazy contraption to get his to the top.

Hey, way to go to everyone. From the racers, pit help, the exriders sending pics, Harlen, and anyone else I missed.

Exriders is the best.

Can we get some streaming video?

Sorry I missed C&D Racing as well. I must have walked thru the pits 1000 times and didn't notice that you were there.

Also thank John Arens (Jnine) for the pics. I was too busy with my pit duties to take pictures during the race. John was gracious enough to take some pictures for me.

I am already looking forward to next year's race. Hopefully I will be able to actually race.

Whew......I'm beat!!!:(
That was a blast, we are very happy with our finish, we went up there not knowing what to expect. We didn't even take spare parts. Luckly we didn't break anything! Thanks for the air filter Laz! Congrats to everyone that finished, it was a physical and mental drain. I didn't even have the energy to go to the awards giveaway! I battled with Jason Lewis on the last 3 laps and it took every last ounce of energy I had.
I can't wait till next years race, I will be much more prepared (LIKE HAVING A TWIST THROTTLE INSTEAD OF THUMB :eek2: )
Big thanks to GT Thunder, Hiper Wheels, Burgard and Houser for all their help! And a special thinks to Rick Cecco for the pit help!:macho

Gabe....I saw you out on the coarse but never could find you in the pits (not sure what you look like). I also looked for Colby and Dusty but never could find them either.

Tprender, nice to meat you! You are one heck of a good ref! ;)

Now to start making plans for next year.

:macho Congradulations to Team Troy Racing (Steph,Adam and Brent) winning first place Pro Am they worked really hard for that win . Their pitcrew and mechanic David Parton has worked very hard on keeping the quad going for them and keeping the riders going. He deserves a metal he never once sat down the whole race you could say he raced the race as well . Great ride guys !!!!:D ;) Blue Jean boy had the fastest lap time overall at one point in time .Great footage Exrider hope to see more .Congradulations to Jason Lewis Team as well you guys did a great job!!!

We had to do a complete engine swap and were down for about an hour. Including the tow back from the mx part of the track. That put us back to last place but we rode hard and ended up 15th for the "B" class.

79400ex was there. We was team G & G Trucking in the indusrty class. Ran 1st place on the first two lap but had problem with the cold, a flat tire, and rear axle nut in the first ten laps fell back to last place in class. made back up to 9th in the first session. In the second, worked backup; to 7th place, and was making up time on sixth place when a pro peg broke with one hour to go. recplaced it and held on to 7th place.

Fantastic job with the race reports Harlen! My wife, who was at home knew as much about what was going on as I did at the race. She called and yelled at me for one of my slow laps only 10 minutes after it happened.

Team Rausch Creek would like to thank Kevin from Lost Creek Cycles, Tony Kellner, the Dunkelbergers, the Natalie's, the Borich's and Rick and Traci Cecco.

That race was incredible and we can't wait for next year.

Jeff, how did you like the YFZ? How does it compare to your C-dale?

cdalejef
10-28-2003, 12:47 PM
I like it! The power is very similar but the Dale has better tight woods power (more torque). Feels like the Dale may have a slight edge on top speed. Suspensions wasn't set up for me so I can't judge that. I wish the seat foam was thicker on the YFZ! Peg to top of seat is shorter, more like a 250R. So a tall person feels a little cramped.

I moved all the stuff on the MOR team to a new thread, so the excellent coverage of this race wouldn't be ruined. Please post any further opinions or statements in the other thread.

Hey Harlen this sounds like a labor intensive task how did you get such quick resluts????

I know you were in MD and the race was in Iowa. I just got back to town and realized that eyes and ears there should get alot of this credit.

I"d like to say congratulations to Gabe & his team on handin out a couple arse's to the competition with his 400ex. This just goes to show you that its not the hot new item but still wins races and a 12 hour race at that. I bet a few yammi owners had their heads hung low after a 1999 400ex won the B class...

That gets me wondering, did White River have the highest finishing 400EX?
Does anyone have the actual bikes used, not just the manuf. of the bike?

Thanks guys! It means a lot, especially with some people out there using us in their attempt to justify the DSQ team.

Not sure if we were the highest placing 400ex or not - that would be really cool if so, but it would surprize me. I do know the DSQ team was on a 400EX and did 7th overall - so really, they were probably the highest ranking 400ex.

There's no easy way to find out unless someone on this messageboard knows of a team riding a 400 that did better. Anyone have any info?

I have herd that the Maxxis fronts handle better than the ITP's, so I guess you did not have a set of fronts?

I have never used Maxxis fronts and have had Awsome success with ITP products, however I did use a set of the razor2's at the mud fest in OH and I never ever got stuck, just my quad died for some strange reason, still dunno why.

As far as flats go only had one in two years and you know it would be in MD on the first mile of the course. Man its a ****** to go all the way around on a flat rear. Saven my pennies for some tire thingies.;)

ATV Sport TV and ATV Magazine TV were both at the 12-Hours. My understanding is that the 12-Hours will be ATV Sport TV's premier show when it comes on the air this upcoming season. ATV Magazine TV will also air parts of the race both can be seen on the Outdoor Network. If anyone out there has personal contacts with Pay Per View, ESPN, Fox Sports or The Speed Channel I would love to visit with them about next years event. The ATV programs do a wonderful job covering the race but we are always looking for other avenues to reach new viewers and draw them into our sport.

I want to commend EXRiders.com for the outstanding play by play coverage you guys gave our event. OH by the way my name is Bob Fleege, one of John Pellan's (Fast-Trak Promotions) partners in the 12-Hours of ATV America, otherwise known in the forum world as OldmanWheeler. Both John, myslef and the rest of the 12-Hour team appreciate everything you guys are doing. Unfortunately, we probably get to see less of the race then anyone else there. We are so busy making sure everything runs smoothly. Therefore, all of your great pictures are heading right for my screen saver!!

Anyone who was at the event, both racers and spectators, we welcome your comments - our goal is to make the 12-Hours of ATV America "The Worlds Premier ATV Race" and EXRiders coverage certainly plays a valuable part in this. Thanks for everything you guys are doing and I look forward to spending more time on the EXRider forum.

I want to take a minute to thank the guys who spent almost every free day they had since July to build this track based on the rider’s feedback from last year. First off we could not have pull this off without three individuals and one company: Bryan Shipley (who drove from Burlington, IA to Fort Dodge almost every weekend), Bruce Breeser, Jim Dahl and R&J Material Handling of Fort Dodge. These guys put there heart and soul into building that race track. In addition to these hard working individuals I would also like to thank Kam Schmehr, Nate Gibson, Rick Williams, Rick Hilmers and all the rest of the Webster County Wheelers of Fort Dodge who help build the track.

We also can not forget the many volunteers who helped flag, tow, score and do numerous other duties. This race takes about 100 volunteers to pull off correctly and most of them come from clubs around the state who are part of the Iowa OHV Association. We appreciate everyone who sat in the woods for hours, some for 12 hours, to make this race safe for the racers. I also want to thank Scott Fones who was our EMS and fortunately very few of you had to get to know him up close and personal. He's a nice guy and all but you just don't want him looking down at you asking you if you know what day it is. Seriously, you are the unsung heroes and we can not thank you enough!

Just one amazing satistic I would like to share with you. 68 teams, 204 racers rode approsmately 25,000 miles around the 6.5 mile course in 12-hours and I'm only aware of three injuries and all were back at the track before the end of the day. This satistic speaks very highly of the guys who built the track, the volunteers and most important the racers themselves. Great job everyone.

By the way, just for the record, the engine in the Diamond G Racing team’s quad was stolen, I mean borrowed, from my machine when they took the Elka shocks of it. Unfortunately, Jim was unable to finish the Mickey Dunlap Four Stock Tech 785cc motor in time to properly break it in so the decision was made to “borrow” mine but for some reason they forgot to tell me until Friday night. Are these guys’ friends or what? I want to thank Diamond G Racing and Mickey Dunlap Four Stroke Tech for all of their support. You could not ask for better sponsors. And for three weekend riders Matt Cooper, Leo Reigelsberger and Jason Mickelson did one super job, if only the 13 year old tether switch we had to use because the wrong one came in, who knows what they could have done. Thanks to Jim Dahl and Jimmy Olson for building a solid machine and don’t forget to do the same when you put mine back together!!! Finally, our prayers go out to Jimmy Olson who was seriously injured this past Friday night when a spring from a power washer he was working on hit him in the eye.

By the way, next year's 12-Hours of ATV America will be held October 29, 30 & 31 in Fort Dodge, IA. The 12-Hour race will be Saturday October 30th.

This was our first time to actually watch a gncc type race, we did not make it for the start but arrived around 8:30am after taking a look at the riders and the track, Colby and I looked at each other and said this is awesome (yes we are kind of deprived in Nebraska)
You guys did a great job at running this event, we will defiantly be back next year :D

Screw them big TV companies lets start our own network. We could have several great shows.

We could put helmet cams on at all the races.

We could have Pappy's Bling Bling Garage. What quad are we going to PC today Pappy?

And best yet would be the Reality TV:
Live from Hatfield McCoy WV. It's the EXRIDER's Jackasses:eek2:

I guess it's only in my dreams:(

STAR Racing (Adam Ferrell[me], Todd Gilham, Cody Kirk) would like to thank the following companies and people:

MOOSE
PRO-X
Sunstar
K&K ATV
HI-PER Wheels
UNI
Christian Paul Motor Sports
Wayne GIlham
Dennis Kirk

We had an amazing run. We didnt change a tire or tighten a chain. All we did was dump gas and change riders. The Laeger worked great. We did have a loose clutch basket at the start of the race that kept us from getting up to speed. Thats why Quadshop kept blowing our doors off on the striaghts. Jeff I didnt get to meet you or Bryan, but I did meet Nathan. It was great battling with you guys back and forth for what seemed like the entire race! We had a blast and were extremely pleased with our 5th place Pro finish! Luck was on our side that day! Great to see all of you guys following the race!

Do any of you that were in Fort Dodge for the 12-Hours have pictures from the "Haunted Pit Lane"? I would like to give Hy-Vee Food Store here in town some pictures so that we can get them lined up again for next year to sponsor the "Haunted Pit Lane". Thanks.
