that is like the float bowl i think is the name of it...there is no way to stop it from doing this...unless u some how mod the carb in a way where it can still function properly and not leak

Sounds to me like the float is sticking.Time for a rebuild. This CAN be stopped.Owned a 99 and a 2000 float would stick ocassionaly just a tap with a screw driver would do the trick and stop the flow. When it got to doing it constantly I just rebuilt the carbs.

they did make an update in the carbs. i think it was in 2001 or 2002. my friend had that same problem with his 2000 and i believe they just put in a new float. i think anyways it was the float that was changed. he has no problem anymore.

i notice that my clymer says that for 2001's, but not previous years, the float pin must be removed by lightly tapping the pin out of the mount. however, it doesn't say anything about the 2002 and 2003's. but the honda manual says for 2001 and newer you will need to tap the pin out. so, that means in 2001 and newer years they must have changed something on the float, i guess the pin. i have never went to taylorville. i mainly ride on farms and down roads. i have been told to go to taylorville by a few of my friends though.
