95% rider 5% quad. Especailly in Harescrambles. I think HS are 75% indurance 20% rider skill 5% quad.

not the 440 kit ask PHAT440ex what he thinks about his 440 problems why you gonna buy one and do that to it when you can wait and get the 450?? and keeping up in harescrambles is more skill than speed sometimes get some good shocks before you go tearin into the motor i run a stock 400ex and am a 1st year racer- my stock motor hangs fine in the woods but those fields you loose time- good luck

its mostly rider a quad just pushes you to get better

The eX in my eyes is still very competitive

but if u just have to crack the motor open keep the comp. around 10 to 1 the 416 is a good package

Yes they are correct about the 440 and it's troubles. I run a 416 with 11-1 comp and 110 oct race gas, I have raced several of my budz 440 and the only diff is outta da hole about a half quad length. The yfz 450 will smoke a 440 in a drag but in the woods not much diff. I have had to replace second gear in mine only once in two and half years of GNCC and Mid South Racing, if you run 440 be prepared for that on regular basis and have lots of head gaskets ready. IMO the best 440 kit is by duncan spend the cash and have them do it, it will cost about 2g's but will have little problems.

The ex will be competitive for years to come, the frame geometry is spot on and you can only use so much speed. Unless your tracks are like the wisp this year you will be o.k.. I needed a rocket at that place to keep up with those damn c-dales and big bores.
