The CR500 engine in a 250R chassis is scary fast, but it will shake like a whore on crack withdrawl. Even if you have the engine blueprinted and balanced, you WILL have vibration issues. Not to discourage you from the swap, but you better bring a toolbox to every ride because you'll be tightening bolts left and right!

i pretty much figured out how to keep it to the lest vibration possible...use lots of locktight. and you should be fine. maybe once i get my racer done i can do this..ever since i rode my friends cr500 i've been hooked

It's prettty easey just use rubber mounts like when I did a swap with a 400cc snowmoblie motor. these arefrom a polaris but........

www.atvsource.com did one as a project, I think it was built by mac racing. I'm pretty sure they used the 250r bottom end so they could keep the counter balancer on it. The article is on their website.

I was planning on doing one till i talked to some people that actually have. They pretty much say it's not good for anything but a drag bike (short blasts then shut it off). Anything more than that and your arms go numb. You can rubber mount the motor and get an anti-vibe stem but it'll still rattle your teeth out. MAC will do the CR500 topend onto your R bottom end for like $3K. It's really not that hard to get a R motor up to CR500 power levels.

I haven't known anybody that had mated the CR500 top end to the 250r bottom end, but I've read about it, so it can be done.

I HAVE known a few people that have tried to put the CR500 motor in a quad chassis, and not ONE of them would ever recommend it to anybody else. They all say it was a bad idea, even with rubber engine mounts.

My friends rummer mounted, loctited, cotter pinned, BRAND NEW cr500, anti vibe stemed, ect ride, is a 500 cc vibrrator. It cracks a frame member every other ride, most bolts fall out after one ride, pipe mounts break every ride. Save youself the money time and hassle and don't do it. Its sucks. He was convinced he could get the vibration out, it barely even went away after doing the above. DO NOT DO IT!
