WBREV KIT,K&N FILTER,E SERIES SLIP ON, DYNO JET KIT, MODIFIED AIR BOX LID, 14 T SPROCKET, WB E-BRAKE BLOCK OFF AND A # 42 PILOT JET. ELEVATION IS 1000 FT.

I take it your quad is a 400ex? What is it doing wrong?

YES IT IS A 400EX . I HAVE YET TO INSTALL MY PIPE AND JET KIT. I WOULD JUST LIKE TO HAVE SOME SORT OF STARTING POINT WITH THE PIPE AND JETS.

start with leaving all 12 discs on the pipe. if you read the paper work that came with the pipe, it says the 400ex produces the most power gains with 12 discs.

jetting depends on your altitdude

Yeah start it like Holty said...... add or remove discs to compensate it running rich or lean. You shouldnt have to rejet until you change the airfilter and modify the airbox lid. Thats the cool think about having a tuneable pipe!

Leave the 12 discs in place, for no reason reduce the amount of discs. The #42 pilot is a good choice, a 155mj or 158mj will suit your needs. Start with the 155 and see how it runs.

Good Luck!!

I HEARD OF A GUY THAT LIVES IN PHOENIX SAID THAT HE PUT 18 DISKS ON HIS WHITE BROS E SERIES. HE SAID THAT WAS RECOMMENDED BY WB. SOUNDS LIKE TO MANY.

I have a e-series pipe. I am running 12 disks, stock header and air filter. Initially when I put it on I had stock jetting(38 & 145). I was getting a lot of popping and crackling when getting off the gas and when compression hits going down hills. I upped my jetting to 40 & 158 and performance increased, acceleration is good but I still get a little bit of popping and crackling when compression hits. Has anybody had this problem? What are your suggestions?

Per White Bros. instructions I also run 18 discs. My EX gained more mid and top going to 18 discs. Tuning(before the XR cam) was 165 main, 42 pilot, and the needle moved up one notch.

JB's400ex..

Move the clip on the needle down one notch, if that doesn't cure it, step up to a #42 pilot.

i am running a 160 main 42 pilot jet and K&N filter. I am going down to a 155 due to the spark plug reading, the plug was all balck it was in for 6 months. right now i am running 160 with no spark arrestor and it makes a sweet sound, but it is so much louder than before.
I wouldn't do anything with the pilot because it only deals with idle, start up, and just a tade of throttle.

I dropped the needle and it seemed to cut a little of the popping and backfiring out. I rode a friends and he has a FMF Powercore and it did about the same thing. I think I will wait to do anymore until it gets warmer and see how it runs then. I may go up to a 42 pilot if it is doing the same thing. It is also isn't idling quit as well as my friends so I was thinking of upping the idle a little but it has always idled real low and I still want to see how it responds in the summer. Thanks everyone for your advice.
