Recently had a thread about a trade I was making could either get a 2000 yz125 or a 98yz400f I explained that my dirtbike experience was limited, but because of my weight 250 you guys said get the 400. Not complaining about the bike it is immaculate low hours xtras full pro circuit pipe gripper seat it is beautiful, but the seat is 39 inches high, taller than my buddies kx250 which is perfect at 36.And the motor is just a brute that thing is for nutcases cant wait till I get back title to trade for newer 125.You guys are trying to make my wife a widow

man...the way you'll have to ride the 125 will be the same way but w/ a on-off lightswitch feel, and when they're "on"..it has a wild powerband,I'd just take my time getting used to it if I was you,I'd much rather have the 4hundo and I dont weigh near as much, sorry your not happy w/ it...I recommended it to you also:(

I rode an 02 CR250....and almost saw god..j/p,but it was faster than the 90's 500's:blah:

the 95 cr125 my friend has does have a hard hit but I just slip clutch out of corners and I can really rip on it. I think it is the weight of the bike too maybe I just have to get used to the extra weight But boy is that one hell of a motor never seems to stop pulling!

At 250 I would have recommended the 400 too. I'm only 150 and I think the 125's are way underpowered, but I also like to lug sometimes. I am 6' though, so I guess that would make a difference.

Honestly, I would reccomend that you stick with the 400. As a 4-stroke, it's much easier to control the powerband and you only go as fast as you want to, until you get used to the power. Give it at least 2 months before you decide you can't handle the power...
