Quite a while ago Ben removed a TON of names from the list when he was troubleshooting the picture attaching problem.

Oh I totally agree. This is the biggest site and has a large influence on the industry. It is bigger then Bluetraxx (6,851 mebers), yfzcentral, blasterhq, z400central etc... but its not 15,000. I do not think we need to delete members but still count them to try and sound like a bigger site then we are.

Once again I totally agree that this site is big. My point is not we do not have a lot of people viewing the site whether it be guests or members but the FACT that there are not 15,000 members. Sure there can be 1 million guests but that still doesn't make it 15,000 members.

I think you're missing the point. A huge number of names were removed from the member's list but the counter was not modified. The people removed were inactive users. What would BT's member count be if you removed 2/3 of their users that had only a couple posts or less? The point is we did have 15,000 members but we voluntarily removed a large chunk of them.

At the end of the day I can assure you of this, the member count isn't being modified in an effort to impress anybody. If Harlen were attempting to trick people into thinking we've got more members than we really have do you think he'd leave the member's list up so anyone interested in looking into could easily just count?

Wow, I don't even know what to say that hasn't already been said. I just find it comical that EXRiders is being accused of counting members that have registered under several names like no other website does that. We've got no control over how many names someone uses on this site. We eliminate the ones we do know about but of course a lot gets passed us. I got news for you, BT, Z400, YFZcentral, etc. all count the number of names registered for their membership counts. Are they all evil empires bent on dominating the internet because they count 3 new members when in actuality Joe Schmoe registered 3 times? The fact of the matter is it happens, it's always happened and it always will happen-on this board and every other one.

the member Curt had a problem yesterday with his account. after all day of not being allowed to post...and an IM to me (id idnt need my mom called those names:eek: :blah: ) we figured it out with harklens help. he had gotton a new email addy and switched his addy info to exriders..which then triggered a new email notifacation notice that wasnt caught by the exrida's super computer ( a 1985 apple 2 k on harlens stack of books)

needless to say if he hadnt figured it out he would have had to reregister to post. now curt aint shy and the issues was fixed....but a memebr that dont post much may have just re registered and went on with life.


so things do happen that affect memebr #'s.....and if you think someone is playing numbers for any reason whatsoever...you need some couch time

The number of registered members really doesn't mean that much as some of you would like to think! Do you really think that atving.com currently has over 38,000 active members? I really doubt it when they never have as many members online at one time as we do. Yes, it is sometimes close, but I have never seen it have more! So, where are all of its 38,000+ members that have registered? Do you really think Bluetraxx has over 6,800 active members? Again, I really doubt it when only they rarely have over 60 members online at once and the most ever was only 124! EXriders.com has over 125 members online when I get up in the morning almost everyday!

Ben decided at some point to clean out names that wasn't used in a while, but didn't rest the counter. SO WHAT!! The other sites just haven't bothered to delete any old members to free up good usernames wasted by members that don't log on anymore. What would reseting the member prove? I am more interested in know how many members have registered since the site was started.

QuadMX making this such a big issue was just his way stiring up things, which won't be tolerated! He never sent me a PM to ask me why the counts were different. No, he wanted to make a big stink out of nothing. Advertisers and members only really care about who is online everyday to answer their questions and not how many have signed up over the years. There is no ATV site on the WEB that can compete with the response time to answering questions members have PERIOD!

I stand behind Pappy 100%! This site has only gotten better since he has become a Mod, and he has done more for this site than anyone knows, and I thank him!

If someone wants to publicly put down this site or it members, they will find the EXIT quickly because I won't tolerate it!

I have put my heart and soul into making this a great clean family oriented site that any atv rider can come and share information, experiences, and ask technical questions with quick responses. First off it is VERY seldom that a member gets banned by a mod without the say so of the other mods and admin. Those are normally the members that first post has a link to a gay porn site or what not.

As far as those that do get banned. we all see it as fit. We've had several members try and try to push us to ban them only to come back and say it's BS or have a buddy say it for them. Keep pokin the dog on the other side of the fence and one day the SOB is gonna jump it and get you,,same here on the page.

I could give a rats arse how many members we have. It's the current and everyday users that make the site what it is. As for the crybabies....................... Dry it up...:blah:

I have had this same name since I registered. When I registered this site had under 2000 people. I believe the site has gotten bigger and better. I know I am not the most popular member on here, but do I care no? I don't come here for the popularity contest that some members believe is going on. Its a great site and I will always be here. well, this will piss off a few, but i have never been approached by the admin to try and increase memebrship. i sure have been asked to get rid of a few, but never to get more:devil:

I don't think that will piss anyone off. I don't see anything wrong with trying to grow a forum. I would love to see ATVRiders.com hit 100,000 or better members. The more members the more the forum can offer. GO FOR IT!!!
