Dmc Exhaust Packing Question

in theory do you gain engine performace with packing or without ?
it would breath better without , right ?

I don't know the theory I just know that you have more performance with a properly packed silencer :D

i don't know what the effects would be, but if you ran a pipe without packing, you would actually create more backpreasure. The packing wraps around the inner pipe, which has hundreds of reverse cut "scoops" that catch the exhaust gasses and make them "bounce" off the packing. Now take away that packing and the gasses have a longer path of travel before it bounces off the walls of the muffler itself.

Give DMC a call. their customer service and tech support is SECOND to none! If they think there is any advantage to running without packing (which i HIGHLY doubt there is) they would tell ya.
