It does not have a dry sump.

It has dual (wet) sumps ... seperate oil for tranny and engine. Supposedly, separating the 2 oil sources eliminates the need for the external tank, keeps the tranny from contaminating the motor oil and obviously reduces weight.

It does, however, have an aluminium oil cooler.

416 is correct on all counts. I would just like to add that it is more of a pain to change oil but it does keep contaminates out of the clutch which adds to the reliablity of the bike.

so u could run non-synthetic for the clutch and synthetic in the motor then right? they dont have to be the same'
?

Correct, and probably the ideal setup, as typically, fully synthetic oils can cause clutch slippage, but fully synthetic is prob the best for the enginge itself.

Wouldnt the oil be easier to change with out the external oil rez? Theres only one place you have to drain it now and you dont have the troubles with over or under filling like with some bikes (raptor).

Does the tranny oil have ot be changed as often as the oil?
