hi.
thanks for looking first off, and thanks for any help you can give me...
anywyays, my dad and i were working on my 400ex yesterday (2000), and i happened to noticed 2 things:

1) there is freeplay in thesplined hub that the rear sprocket bolts to. is this normal? is it a problem?
it has a LSR +4" adjustable racing axle on it, if it makes any difference.
(rotational freeplay on the splined axle, not sure if the axle or hub, or both are worn)

2) the rear caliper has forward/back freeplay in it and bangs forward enough to make a sound when you spike the brakes real quick.
again, any porblem/ irregularity?

if you know of any common problems with either of these, or have any ideas what problems could be and what needs replaced, tightened, etc..., please post them.

thanks,
racer36 :D

1) This is not unheard of:( Look back in this section for a post by Rico, he has a temporary fix.

2) Some play in the caliper is normal but it shouldn't move that much. Are there still two bolts holding the caliper stay on?

Did you install the stopper bushing for the caliper stay? Without the bushing, the stay would move.
