350x decompression lever

i read a thread about the decompression lever on a 350x motor when u put it in a 300ex frame..said u had to buy one off of a dirtbike to make it work..is this true? why wont it work?

the bracket down by the kicker hits the exhaust. I heard to get the bracket and arm from a 250x. and caBLE TOO

mine dont hit..i have a custom made exhaust..so it should work ok right?
